Best for Younger Kids - If you try hard, you can sometimes read the "invisible" ink by CH
If your kids are VERY discerning and want a REALLY invisible ink, this may not be for them. Our nine year old has strict criteria. She has several accomplices, and they need this device against a several years older sister.
Ultimately, she liked it, but I had to demonstrate how powerful this could be, because when our daughter first used it with very simple and big words, she could "see" them, without using the UV light. I wrote a few sentences in small lettering with the pen, however, and she tried, thought she could identify a few words, but could not get the meaning of what I wrote. When I used the pen's light, it revealed my sentences clearly.
Disappointed in this product by Star Gazers
My grandson and I had an animated discussion about secret writing and invisible ink. When his birthday came around, I gave him this product.
I am quite disappointed in this product. The flourescent ink doesn't flow easily out of the pen -- in fact, the pen tip is hard metal rather than a soft brush type that I had expected. In order to get flow from the pen tip, my grandson has to press hard, and this leaves the writing track etched into the paper. You can read the etched version easily (unaided), or easily highlight it by brushing over it with a pencil. No need for the light! And thus -- worst of all -- not at all secret...

Nice invisible ink pen lets me write in my diary with the assurance no one can read what I write. Because the ink is invisible, I am the only person with this pen and light that can read my diary. What a coool pen!
I bought it for my 6-year-old and she played with it for a day and left it behind.
The pen is cheaply made. My daughter tried to pin it on her pocket but the cap kept falling off and since she can't carry it anywhere conveniently, she lost interest soon.

Got this for my son's birthday we had a lot of fun going back and forth writing secret messages. He's 8 and really into spy toys and loved this one a bunch.
Ok this ink is visible but only for a short period of time. The light is ultra violet. The only thing that i would improve about this pen would be a longer cord for the light.
Great toy, the packaging was a little poor - it had fallen apart and someone taped it back together (not something I would expect from a brand new item).
This works. Pleasantly surprised with this purchase. Kids love them!! Don't think it would work for long letters and such but for short notes and fun, spot on!
How would you rate this toy's educational value?** really its a toy. but hey u sure do have to look for those hidden messages!!! its a blast for kids and adults come on how fun!!

The product looks very cheap. I doubted that the product may not work when I saw the package. Well my worries came true. It looks very flimsy and i certainly not the $10 you pay for it. Looks like a cheap chinese product
