5My baby went nuts for this toy! by Mary Collins "Band M

My seven-month old loves playing with this toy whenever we visit the doctor's office. He loves to manipulate the knobs and buttons and make the animals pop up. An added bonus is that this toy isn't electronic -- no batteries! I haven't seen it in our local stores, so I'm pleased to see it for sale online.

5Simple fun with no batteries.... by By A Customer

I bought this for my 9 month old. He loves to push down the animals but I am scared he is going to get his fingers caught when he pushes down. I guess with these types of toys there is no way around it. He loves it but can't figure out all the buttons yet. Maybe still too young. But he seems to get a kick out of the 2 sliding buttons he can push. Giggles when the animals pop up. Cute toy, great that I don't have to buy batteries every minute. Very sturdy.

5Color is different, but a still a great toy by Eowyn25

This is a great little toy for anyone with babies/toddlers in the house. Very entertaining, great for building fine motor skills, and NO BATTERIES to replace or annoying loud music.

But I did just wanted to mention there is a color variation in case it would make a difference to anyone else. Mine is green and I took a pic of it that you can see under customer images above.

5Even my 2.5 year old still loves it! by Nicole Newland "Rock

We have the lime green version of this toy and it's a big hit around here. I was actually kind of surprised, considering my girls usually go gaga for the electronic, singing toys, but they both love this. It was one of the first toys my younger daughter could manipulate on her own. It's great for teaching some of those finer motor skills. The button pop-up is their favorite because it squeaks when you press it. My one complaint is that the twist key-type one has to be turned a little more after the animal pops up to get it to go back down again and the girls don't really understand that concept just yet. I don't know if that's a quirk specific to our toy, though. So if you're looking for a cute, durable toy that doesn't require batteries, you are in the right place!

5Entertaining and Educational by By A Customer

My son loves this toy, he will sit for a long time trying to figure out how to make them pop up, when he finally gets it he laughs out loud!

515 month old likes to throw it by H. Pham "Kung Fu Hug

My 15 month old loves to play with it, but he's figured out a faster and easier way to get the animals to pop up. He throws it! And makes a great dent on my hardwood floors. It does entertain him but if you have a baby who is like mine, invest in some soft floor protection when they play with it!

5Great Learning Tool by Rochelle L. Farra

My son loved this around 12 months old. It was great for him to learn how to manipulate the different kinds of switches, buttons and knobs. It took him a while to figure out the knob that turns. That one proved annoying for me as well because the knob has to be turned just right for the pop-up animal to latch closed again. The toy is extremely durable; my son likes to throw things down the stairs and this is one of the items that has been down them. It doesn't require batteries and doesn't make sounds/music. I rated it a 4 because my son prefers the sound/music toys so he played with this one less frequently than others.

5classic toy by Amy P. Casey "Amy Cl

Classic toy- love that the doors can only be opened by using the knobs and that it does not take batteries! My daughter and I will use the toy to learn animal sounds, colors, numbers and operating the various knobs. I just wish I knew a good sound to make for the giraffe!

5Great Gift by Hudgins Family

This was a gift for our 10 month old daughter. It requires no batteries, so a big plus in my book. Our daughter hasn't figured out how to open the doors/lids yet, but she LOVES closing them. And since we have an older son very close in age who believes all toys are his, it's a good one for them to play with together. He manipulates switches to open the doors and she closes. Appears to be durable so far, as well.

5Wonderful Toy! by By A Customer

I had one of these when I was a child and I wanted to find one for my daughter for her first birthday. Of course, I found it at Amazon (this place carries everything!). This one is a little more updated than the one I had as a child and my daughter just loves it. At first she could only do the button one but after only a week, she figured all of them out and can now get all the animals to pop up. This toy is great at teaching cause and effect and is good at hand eye coordination. it's also very durable because I sometimes catch her standing on it in her playpen and it's been thrown around and kicked and is still as good as new! The best thing about this toy.....No Batteries Required!

5So far, just okay. by skylark

I bought this toy for my baby several months ago. She is now 9 1/2 months. When I first introduced this toy at seven months, my baby was bewildered. I put it in the closet and just reintroduced it a few weeks ago. Since reintroduction, here are my thoughts:

She doesn't really care about using the buttons to make the characters pop up. If I pop all the characters up she'll spend about 3-4 minutes flipping all of them back down. Often she will get her little fingers caught under the character and she'll be using her other hand to press it down, squishing her fingers. I'm glad she isn't strong enough to hurt herself yet.

I will note that we received this with a blue/purplish base, not white. I expected this based on other Amazon reviews though.

This is by far not one of her favorite toys. It has offered mild amusement at best. I do not recommend this product.

5Elisa by Vito

This toy made it to out tops favorite. My son would play with it for what it seemed like ever. It helped him with his fine motor skills, by pushing the buttons, and he loved when the animals would pop up.

5Everything I expected! by Abbie Jensen "Amazon

This toy reminds me of my childhood. I cant wait to see my son play with this on Christmas morning!

5Very nice, but knobs and buttons seem hard to manipulate by Norma L. Musclow

This is very cute and just what I wanted, except I bought it for my granddaughter for Christmas who will be 9 months by then, and I don't think she is going to be able to manipulate the knobs and buttons - it takes more strength than I believe she has. Fortunately, I'm sure big brothers will be more than happy to accomodate her with that problem, and she can have fun pushing them back down!

5Son loves it by J. Melton "rare revi

My son was playing with this at his day care and the staff said he really enjoyed it. We decided to track it down and were very happy to find it here on Amazon. My son is only 7 months old and hasn't quite figured out how to make the characters pop up, but when we pop them up he is able to press them all back down. This is a great toy for interacting with your child and it will be fun to watch as his dexterity improves and we change roles so that he pops them up and we push them back down. Highly reccomend.

5Very Cute, Teaches Puzzle Solving Skills by

My 17-month-old has had this toy since last Christmas (almost a year ago) and still enjoys it. She is just now understanding how to open each 'pal', but even when she couldn't, she enjoyed watching me open them for her and she would close them to squeals of delight. This toy is very durable, it has been thrown, dropped, even stepped on, and we have had no issues. It's also nice that it has a little handle, making it an easy toy to take over to grandma's to play. It's also a very quiet toy, and we all know that as parents we could ALL use more of those!

5Buttons are VERY hard to push by C. Schelle

We received this as a gift, but my 18 month old twins can hardly push the buttons down! They are VERY stiff (and I mean stiff as in hard for me to push sometimes). The base color of our popper is blue. I have a friends with a different model and their buttons are much easier to push. I'd recommend buying this toy in a store where you can test it. I think the ease varies by model.

5Exactly as expected by karen greenberg

When you buy a toy, you don't always find it meets the need or the description. This one does; it is fun and challenging and our grandson really enjoys the action and reaction as he plays.

5great toy by Lisa

This is one of the best toys for kids. keeps them busy for few years. I got it for my son at 5 months and played w/ it until after he was 2 yrs old. We used it until he broke one of the buttons. It is a sturdy toy.

5Occupies, Grows with child, Different than photo by Jamie

My son is 11 months old. He can play by himself with this toy for a short period of time because he hasn't yet figured out how to get all the animals to come out of their boxes! When someone plays with him and helps him he is entertained longer. I like that there are different skills to learn to open each animal. I like to name the animals and the sounds for him. The toy I received has different colors and animals than the one pictured here - so be aware. The description says "Colors may vary" but actually the entire toy is different. The colors of mine are softer, not primaries and the animals are monkey, lion, etc.

5Good Fun!! by DDSMOM

This toy it's great. It got here fast and my toddler loves it. The Colors of the toy vary but it doesn't make a difference for my tot. It's fun and it doesn't require batteries. It's durable my son throws it on the floor and it hasn't cracked. My son has trouble making the monkey pop up but overall it's a good toy to have.

5Daughter Loves It by Danielle

We received this toy as a Christmas present for my daughter when she was 8 months old. She is now almost 15 months and still loves it. (Popping all the characters open and closing them again is what helped us to teach her how to clap!) Some of the triggers are still a bit difficult for her to manipulate, but they do say this toy is appropriate for ages 1-3, so I'm sure it will become easier to use as she ages, though I'm sure it won't hold the same appeal when she is 2 or 3.

5Great toy... not my son's favorite, but it's terrific by Riks

Maybe my 10-month old is a little young for it? He loves trying to push the doors down... sometimes gets fingers stuck and is unable to close the door fully. Some of the buttons/pulleys ARE a little hard to use... not good for such a young kid, but the toy is enjoyed very much regardless.

It is fun and VERY educational. I had been wanting this toy for a while, but was waiting for Amazon to carry it - not through a 3rd party - so I could get free shipping.

I got the blue color, which is just fine... you can't pick your colors on this one. I think I've seen one color version of this toy that was really ugly, so just be aware.

All in all, it's a good toy. Doesn't keep my child occupied for hours, but it is definitely an appreciated, well-used toy.

5great toy by Joan A. Jackson

I bought this toy for a nursery and they loved it. It was one of the most sought after toys.

5Very Difficult Toy by kathryn3808

My daughter LOVES this toy. However the buttons are so diffcult to move that it frustrates her. I dont know of any baby strong enough to push the buttons. It needs to be easier for a baby to use. My daughter is constantly asking me to "help" her push the buttons and wants to be able to push them herself.

5poppin pals review by szsilverpoet "poetes

the toy is an excellent and exciting tool to use when engaging children in the play process, teaching them about colors/animals/sequencing, and helping them develop their fine motor manipulation skills... the colors are cute, the animal characters are fun, and the material is endurable to ensure a long lasting and educationally engaging product for toddlers and young children...

5Simple Educational Toy by Chesapeake Baybe "Ch

We bought this toy for my son's first birthday. At first he just loved closing the doors. Noww at 17 months he can operate all but one of the knobs. As other reviewers said, the key can be a little tricky but it doesn't distract from the total educational value of the toy.

5great fun by Nikki T. Scott

Both my one year old and my three year old can spend an hour pushing the buttons on this toy. My three year old enjoys naming the numbers, and animals. I would recommend this toy to others.

5Good, quiet learning toy by Three Boys Now "Momm

My 6 month old has this in purple. It is a beautiful shade with bright colored doors and stickers. The first night his older brother would open the doors for him, and he would eagerly shut them down. But when his brother went to school the next day, he had to play alone and learned to open most of the doors by himself. He's still too little to turn the key, but he did learn how to pound, push and even kick the buttons to get the doors to open. Then he races to shut them don again. It's just too cute. And the best thing about is it that I don't have to change any batteries or listen to any tinny noises. (My son had the singing Sesame Street one when he was a baby. He loved it, but it drove us nuts!) This is an all around great toy.

5Great for toddlers! by J. Hamilton

My son will spend hours pressing the buttons on this toy and watching the animals pop up. It is also a great activity for those motor skills!

5Pop'n'Pals by Deborah Curran

This was purchased for my 6-month old grandson. He isn't quite able to work everything yet but it's a great toy and he loves it when the heads pop out.

5opens with a bang! by redfox "too many per

I think my daughter was able to move most of the levers when I first showed it to her, around 4 months, but the loud snap as the animals popped up made her wince each time, so it didn't really encourage her to play and we actually put it away for a long stretch. Now she's 8 months and the colors draw her, but again she finds it too loud, even turning half away in anticipation when she sees me about to demonstrate one of the gizmos. She enjoys pushing all of the heads back down (even loudly with banging), but I fear she may have already learned to avoid really working this toy...

5Great toy with lasting power by DJ

My three kids, 3 yr old and 18 mos. old twins all love this toy. They go back to it time and time again. My little ones love opening and closing the doors. They will sit with this toy for long periods of time. This is a must have in a toddler toy collection.

5fun toy by maggie

My son enjoys opening and closing the doors on this toy. It is a nice toy that helps with his fine motor coordination.

5Could've been easier to work by Kimiko

Somebody bought this toy for my daughter's 1st birthday (only it's yellow, not white). It's an okay toy, but the switches and knobs are really hard to push/turn. She is only able to get the blue #3 animal to pop since the button is easy to push. The one that looks like a key is hard to turn, and if you turn it and the animal pops up, you have to turn the key more to get the lid to close. The other switches are really hard to push/pull. My daughter tries to push the other buttons, but it takes a lot of strength to push them.

5He loves it! by TeacherMom

I too, have a different color of this toy (it's green). My son is 9 months old and he especially loves to close the little doors...he's still working on the various skills required to open each door. He gets so excited when he gets one! This toy can entertain him for an extended amount of time (for his age, of course).

5Great for slightly older babies by M's Mommy

My one-year-old loves it when I push the buttons and knobs to make the animals pop up, but her little fingers are not yet strong enough to do it herself.

5One of my daughters fav toys by Joylene "Joylene"

My daughter who is 2 now, has used this toy for over a year. She loves to sit on my lap and play. She will also sit or lay on the floor and play with it. Very durable. Has been dropped, and thrown around. No cracks or anything!! I love the updated colors on this toy.

5Good for motor skills by Deborah Ferguson

My son is 13 months old and can make all of the animals pop up except for the lion. He will play with this toy for a little while but eventually moves on. He enjoyed it the most when he was learning how to use it because I would give him praise each time he learned a new one. Now that he has mastered it (but one lever) he doesnt play with it much. I do think that it helped develop his fine motor skills though. A good learning toy that helps babies learn to use their hands.
