I got this for my daughter to give her something to do on those summer vacation days when she's bored. She loves it. I have been drawing with her too, and her friends have all loved it as well.
It comes with a pad of paper with pre-printed blank faces and hands that you can design any way you like. It has several stencils to use that have a variety of hair styles, earrings, handbands, and more. It has a few pages of examples to give kids some ideas to spark their imaginations. You can color as simplistic or as detailed and "artsy" as you'd like. You can design rings, bracelets, nail polish designs, makeup, and earrings.
This is a great item for tweens, but a little younger could probably use it too.
I am planning on getting some of the other packets from this brand/company. They have similar things to design clothes, pet outfits, rock bands, and more. For girls who like to draw or design, this is perfect.

Lots of plastic stencils for hair styles, accessories, earrings, facial features.
Reminds me a lot of the "Bratz" doll faces. I think my grand-daughter will enjoy playing around with it, and I'm hoping she'll experiment with shading and blending colors. A good choice for young girls that like art class. I think it's the kind of toy a child would play with for a few hours, put it away, and go back to it much later. With only faces and hair to draw, I think it would get boring fairly quickly. That isn't a drawback as far as I'm concerned; having a now-and-then toy makes rainy days go by faster.

I have purchased this drawing book several times for my grandaughter that has autism and she loves working on it. I'm amazed at her creativity.
My 6 year old received this as a birthday present...and she loves it! She takes it with her almost everywhere she goes. I have to admit...I sketched a few of them myself. A lot of fun! I too, bought the large pack of colored pencils for the variety of colors to choose from. Definitely recommend for ages 6 and up.

I bought this for my niece, along with the fashion and pet books for her seventh birthday. She has always enjoyed doing hair and makeup, so I was hoping she would enjoy these, and I was right (score one for the awesome auntie!). Apparently the only problem is that she needs more of the papers, which I figured she would since the toy just looks so fun. I've been looking for refils on papers, because it seems like a waste to buy the entire thing all over again, but I can't find just the papers, which is my only complaint. Overall, a great toy, and definitely will put you in Auntie/Uncle Awesome territory with your six-to-nine year-old.
GREAT FOR MANY AGES AND ARTISTIC LEVELS by Desert Bloom
This is very fun to add your own style both with the stencils and using your own creativity & artistic skills. My daughter rarely uses the stencils but her friends love them (ages 9-11) If they had these when my daughter was younger, she would have been completely competent to enjoy them 6+ if your child has any artistic skill!
Also check out the "rockband" version, you can design clothes, faces and band instruments (she LOVES that one too!)
This is something easy to bring to visit other peoples houses, appointments, restaurants etc. Just grab some colored pencils or gel pens and go!
The pages are thick so my girl LOVES to use her set of gel pens for colorful details that do not soak thru to the next page. Darker eyeliner or highlights with gel pens and colored pencils to shade hair or shadows. Limitless creativity!

My five year old daughter loves this. It has been one of her favorite Xmas presents. She immediately started doing designs all by herself. The only drag was that she teared a few stencils trying to get them off.
