5Really really fun, all my kids love it! by Storylover

I have three boys, ages 3,5, and 6. They are all in various stages of learning to read...they all enjoy this, but my three year old cannot get enough of it. He jealously guards it, keeping it away from the other two kids, and he arried it around with him...he has learned his alphabet, and now he is learning the sounds the alphabet makes. I thought this would be an OK toy at best, but it has been a huge success story in my house...so much so, that I had to order two more so that hte other boys would have a chance to play with it as well! Even my 6 year old really likes it. Another good product from leap frog. I'm not sure how long this will last though, and I'm worried that my very rough boys will break it. We have had it about 3 weeks or so and it has survived, but I worry about the screen. Anyway, great toy, inexpensive enough that I will probably even buy another one if it does break! THat is how much my boys like it.

5leaptop review by Tommy's mom

We got the leaptop for my 20 month old after finding that most of the other toy laptops were for older toddlers and had a possible choking hazard. This is just right for my son. He had no trouble figuring it out and really loves the music. My only wish is that there was a selection for numbers, but otherwise this is a great toy for young toddlers who like music and letters.

5Great learning toy! by Donn Everhard

This was the best present we got for our 3 year old granddaughter. Inexpensive, simple and self explanatory it has really helped her learn letters and shapes. Well worth it for little ones.

5Great Laptop by nkh43p4

I purchased this laptop for my 14 month old grandson because he is fascianted by my PC and runs to touch it at every opportunity. The LeapFrog is extremely durable as he drops it a couple of times a day and bangs on the keyboard with both hands, but it continues to work. It is really simple to use and my grandson can turn it own without adult help. He is to young to appreciate the educational value of the toy, but he likes hearing his name (his parents personalized it) when he turns it on and when he presses the first letter of his name. I would definitely buy this toy again.

5Leaptop fun! by Heather M "(a toddle

I purchased this to bring along on a 5 day vacation with my 17 month old. It was a fantastic choice - he loved it! It was a great distraction (on the lower volume setting) at restaurants, and a good way to keep him entertained at moments in the hotel room when my husband and I got ourselves ready for our busy days out and about. It came in handy during the 5+ hour drive, as well. It seems pretty sturdy, having so far been tossed onto multiple floors, banged against a table, and even dropped onto the concrete of a rest stop parking lot. Sure, at 17 months, he's too young to really get much out of the alphabet setting, but the music and animal sounds are a big hit. He mimics the animal noises and dances around when he triggers a song. I look forward to him enjoying this toy for many months to come.

5Buggy toy with poor customer service by Don Dornblaser

I'm so mad at Leapfrog this morning. We've been enjoying the My Own Leaptop toy and it was especially fun after we personalized it to know our youngest daughter's name. Today I decided to connect it to the computer again to change up the "emails" that it reads to her. The toy refuses to sync and wiped out all of the personalization. There's a "reset" feature, that also refuses to work. Although there's a specific error number along with this message, there's no help topic for this error message in their online support. I called customer service twice, and both times after extensive holding it transferred me to dead air. In an attempt to get some parent-to-parent support, I tried to join their online forums but their site bombs out without a message just trying to accept the terms of service. How can I be let down so many times by the same company! Now when we start the toy, it says "I found an error! Please connect the Leaptop again!" Until they get serious about fixing bugs in their products and on their website, or decide to at least answer the phone, I can't recommend this product to anyone.

5Limited durability, but worth a try IF your todder likes bells & whistles by C. Hayes "Musical Mo

Purchased this product for my 21 month old. She likes it, and it has useful games and exeecises (letter, animal, and number recognition.) But after less than a month of normal wear/tear (by toddler standards) the sound no longer works! I see from other customer reviews that this is a common complaint. Called Leapfrog to complain and request replacement. Customer service has promised to send a replacement. Will file an update once it arrives.

5Great Toddler Laptop! by A. McCain "wife, mom

I got this "leaptop" for my 2 year old and she loved it so much from the start that she didn't want to let me take it to get it out of the box! The personalization is pretty darn cool and the little animations are cute. My daughter can easily work this toy (no mouse like the vtech laptop) and I think it makes a perfect distraction from mommy and daddy's laptops. Should be a great car toy too. Overall, I am very pleased!

5Lifesaver on an international trip w/a 21-month old! by seepresley

I grabbed this the night before a trip to Scotland with our 21-month old daughter, and it was a lifesaver! It has 2 volume settings, which is very helpful in doctor's offices, the airplane, and other places where you want to have it not be so conspicuous. Our daughter loved it the second she got it and has not stopped playing with it this past month. We have not used the internet stuff to customize it, but this is great right out of the box, especially for the price, even without the internet option. It has a fair amount of activities for kids to grow into, but I would not recommend it for kids over the age of 3 1/2 or 4. It has proven to be very durable since she's thrown it from her high chair, her car seat, the airplane seat, and other places numerous times and it still works just fine. I only wish they'd had the pink where I bought mine, but that's ok. I'd buy this again...money well spent!

5Shoddy construction; horrible customer service by Melissa

I purchased this for my 16-month old daughter. The day she opened it, she pushed it from the couch to the padded/carpeted floor. The sound now does not work at all. Thinking that this product must have been "toddler tested" and that this kind of use is not out of the ordinary for any toddler, I contacted customer service because the item was still within its warranty period. They refuse to replace it. They also do not have a repair department. But, they did send me a 15% off coupon so that I could purchase another one (which I will NOT be doing). I essentially flushed the cost of this item down the toilet. I purchased several other LeapFrog products on this day for Christmas gifts. As they are unopened, they will be immediately returned and replaced with a more durable product. I will never buy another LeapFrog product again.

515-month old LOVES it! by Alexis Kollias

This toy is fantastic! We were originally introduced to it through "Toygaroo" and when my son couldn't get enough of it, we ended up purchasing it once it was time to be returned.

One, you can somewhat customize the toy with the child's name, a few particuular songs, and e-mails from mom and dad (which my little guy LOVES!) The different letter settings are great, too, and I hear my son in the backseat copying, "S! Makes the sssss sound!" Letter sounds are so much more important than letter names and I love the fact that he's learning to differentiate the two.

By far our BEST car toy. Pictures come alive on the laptop screen which is most definitely entertaining.

All in all, GREAT toy!! We have a few leapfrog products and have never been disappointed.

5LeapFrog rarely dissapoints! by Melissa Jones

This was one of my 3 year old son's Christmas presents from "Santa". I connected it up and personalized it for him before placing it under the tree. I was amazed at the variety of different ways you could personalize it. He loves getting emails from his big brother, it even says his brother's name as to who the email's from. I will say though, if your child has a very unusual name it probably won't be available, but I was suprised at just how many names they DO have. The music selection is decent, although I think after a few months of play my son will probably tire of them now matter how often I change them up. I really really hope that LeapFrog will go and make continual changes to the personalization options available, i.e. song selection, etc. in order to keep the toy "fresh". Educationally it's pretty straight forward, I've not seen a great improvement in my son's knowledge due to this toy but that's only because he was pretty much knew his ABC's and all beforehand. He does love that he's got his very own laptop, and it's been dropped and fallen off low tables and such and it's really durable too.

5Kid Loves it, but I wish it did more by Coppermom

I just received this leaptop a couple of days ago, and my son *loves* it. He really gets a kick out of hearing it say his name and getting short emails from a few people. My son is over 3. My 17 month old daughter also loves it, mostly because she likes pushing buttons and hearing noises.

I wish it did more to help my son learn his alphabet. He knows it fairly well already. The leaptop allows him to push a button, and the leaptop will say "D D is for dinosuar" and things like that. However, it does not quiz him. I wish it would say "Push the D button," and then confirm if he did so correctly. The leaptop method is the kid pushes a button and listens, it isn't interactive. My other complaint is very minor: It asks "What animal is extinct?" when he pushes the D. The answer is dinosaur. What 3 year old knows what extinct means? My son thinks it is saying "stink" so he has learned that dinosaurs stink and thinks that is funny. Oh well.

For what I paid, I think it is a great toy. He loves it, and it helps him learn.

5Screen is way too hard to see by cmcdnld

My three year old loves this toy. I find it very frustrating when she gets upset because she can't see the screen. It's not backlit at all. For a toy of such good quality this seems like a big oversight. If you aren't under the fluorescent lights of the store you can't see the image on the screen.

5educational and fun by C. Li "mum of 2 girl

My 2-year old daughter loves to play with it after shortly after she received it. The audio is more useful than the screen. She hardly noticed the image on the screen. Part of the reason might be that the image on the screen is not very clear.

5Great Airplane entertainment! by H. Mikesell

We bought this as a new toy to give our 21 month old during a long flight. He absolutely loved it and has played with it all the time since. I like that it says the letters as he pushes the keys and sounds out the letters also. It's educational, entertains him, and he loves having his own laptop.

5A good learning toy by A mom

Overall I like this product. I paid over $24 but later found at Target for $19.99. Disappointed that Amazon's price is not competitive as I thought to be.

5Leaptop review by guitar guy

Our 1 1/2 little baby boy thinks this is the best toy. He will imitate his father being on a laptop and put his leaptop on a table and sit in a big chair, then start to type away.

The leaptop is very durable as our little baby boy will stand on it, jump on it, and press the buttons over and over again. He jumps on it because he is excited to play with it. The leaptop has endured his rough playing.

Also, this product is lightweight. It is easy for our little boy to carry with him and follow his father around the house.

The screen is black and white, but that does not seem to bother our son as the images on the screen have enough movement for him to watch.

The education value seems very good as the leaptop will pronouce the letter and give a word that fits the letter with a moving image on the screen.

Our son also likes the music and often will press certain buttons on purpose to hear specific sound bytes.

5We Love this! by All-access Customer

My now 19-month old absolutely loves this. I bought it for him for christmas when he was 15m and immediately he enjoyed it. Over the next few months he'd play with it every day, and one day I realized he actually learned almost all the alphabet sounds from this laptop! I noticed when he pressed a letter, he'd say the letter sound right before the laptop said it. And now I noticed that even if I just say an animal like Alligator, he knows it starts with A and he'll press that key. We never taught him that so I'm positive he learned all these from this toy. We owe so much to this laptop and to Leapfrog!! He loves the music and animations too.

5Great for my 22 month old by Kelly

My son got this for Christmas. I wanted him to have his own laptop and try to leave mine alone. He LOVES it. He's 22 months old and recognizes a letter or two. After less than a month with this toy he can now name every letter in the alphabet when he sees it without many mistakes. He has this and a wooden letter puzzle. Yes we read to him, yes we say letters when he points them out to us, but mostly I attribute him knowing what he's known on hitting 'H' 'H' 'H' over and over again, you can see the little wheels turn. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat! AND when mommy pulls out her laptop to work, he pulls out his and sits at his desk and plays with it for quite awhile. I can't beat that :)

5Excellent Choice by Renell Clarke "Trini

Pros: Very educational, fun and small enough for your toddler/pre-schooler to carry around comfortably. Very interavctive and a powerful learning tool. My three year old cannot have enough and his cousins two and a half and five also love it. The toy can be personalized via the leapfrog connect website and that is a great hit with them.

Cons: My only complaint is that there shoud be more variety in e-mails, blogs and songs. We should be able to download more to the computer than we can now.
This toy is a big hit and a great learning tool.

5Cute and fun by vegasmommie

I got one for each of my kids... It is really cute. But took me a while to figure out the website to load the programs that personalize it for the first one. The second one I bought was much easier. My kids did play with it for about 3 days but they have since gotten bored with it. I have had it about 3 weeks give or take a few days. You would just have to constantly change up the programming to keep them interested. That is why I only gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

5Great Learning and Entertainment Toy by M. Foster "mckennamo

My 2 year old received this for her birthday. This has several features on it that she loves. It has learning features as well as entertainment. Even my nearly 4 year old loves it. It is small enough to fit in our bag to take with us. I think it could use more educational features when compared to other leapfrog products. I wish it had a back lit screen but as most leap frog products for this age go, it does not. It does have a technology compontent to it which is great. Like other leap frog products it is very durable so far.

5I don't get it, nor does my son... by Susan M

This toy is really boring. It does not keep my 2 year old sons attention at all. All you do is hit buttons and make noise. There really is no "LEARING" involved. I thought that if I personalize it, it might be more fun, but it isn't. Read a book, go outside, sing a song, make a fort. Don't buy this junk.

5Still on the fence by Ms.Oh

Like my title, I'm still on the fence on this product. My son is almost 3 now and he is not that impressed by this product. He did enjoy playing with it for about 30 minutes when he first got it but since then has lost interest. It has very limited options to fool around with, those choices being the ABC's, music and email which you have to add via USB cable yourself. It takes a bit of work on the parent's part which is also why I'm iffy about this product.
Maybe if I actually went on the site and downloaded stuff , my son would be more interested.

For an all in one gift, its' a 3 star.
I may update more once i get on the site. we'll see.

5Watch the price! by DawnS

Great toy! But watch the fluctuating price. It was 24 this a.m. And now they are going for 34! W has them for 20!

5Good toddler toy! by Rebecca Grankey

My daughter got this for her second birthday and she seems to enjoy it. I couldn't figure out how to download the software onto my MacBook but it works great on a regular PC. My daughter has had this for 9 months now and rarely plays it except to dance to some of the songs. I can see it working for some kids and I like it's simplicity but it's definitely not my favorite toddler toy but it's better than most of the learning toys.

5I boought it for a 10 month old! by Maurissa Pence

I know I know I know. What was I thinking!? A 10 month old?! My husband thought I was being so silly :P but I wanted it for car trips. Yes at my son's young age it held his attention for 10 minutes, but I cycled through toys as the trip continued, and it was the BEST distraction for him. He was/is very active-most people associated with just being a boy :) but he was strapped to a car seat so that helped make him focus. At home he would use it, but like all his other toys-just a few minutes at a time.

Even at that young age this was a great toy. There are songs, the musical instrument mode and the animal sound guessing game mode along with just pushing buttons and sliding the mouse, the usb port, and the on/off/volume switch :) the battery compartment is screwed on so there's no worries there. He's 19 months now, active, and still interested in it. He has moved on to the letter sounds mode (probably referred to as teh phonics mode) where it (an adult male's voice) says the letter, it's sound, and a word along with a picture on the screen. I still haven't plugged it into the computer so that tells you how much fun it can be. If I ever get around to doing that I'll provide an update. I am hoping that the problems I've read may have to do with the website having temporary issues-if you try again it may get corrected...we have the leapfrog dog "scout" that you connect to the pc and it worked fine.

I do have to say that he pulls out the fisher price laugh and learn laptop more often but it doesn't hold his attention for as long as the leaptop. I think his young age is attracted to the fun colors of the fisher price toy (it's his target age) and the mellow appearance of the leaptop (by comparison) isn't as appealing.

5LOVE the My Own Leaptop!! by Sean McGlothlin

Most impressed!!! My 2 year old son already recognized all of his letters, but this great laptop now teaches him the pronounciation and an animal that goes with that letter. His favorite is seal. :) You can also email your little one. Highly recommend!

5Awesome toy for those who like to push buttons by Shannon Borowski

My son (21 months) loves this toy. He could push the buttons forever. This holds his attention for about 20 minutes at a time, which is the longest he plays with one toy by himself. Would definitely buy again

5Great from 12mo. on! by AJ

I bought this for my child when he was very little. He liked to use my own laptop (bang keys) and I thought this would help get him away from that. It didn't really and at a young age he didn't enjoy it too much. But around one year he started recognizing the cause and effect of the keyboard keys=music and now he loves to hit the keys and dance with his head. As he gets older, he will be able to play the more educational games, but for now it's just music (19mo.)

Anyway I think it's a great product I love the customization options too.

5Better Screen Please! by Heather T.

My 3yo LOVES this. Loves getting "email" and loves to sing and dance along to the songs. I wish the Alphabet game gave other animals besides just the one as an animal that starts with option. I mean, after all there are other animals that start with M besides Monkey. Also, had really hoped to be able to use this on long car rides to entertain him, but there is no light on the screen, and the black & gray makes it REALLY hard to see even in well lit situations. They couldn't put in a color screen?! really? So it absolutely can't be used after dark. It's been fun for him, but a little monotonous for mommy & daddy.

5My Son LOVES This Toy! by Alize

I gave this to my son for his 3rd birthday and he is in love with it. He calls it is "puter" and carries it all around. He sings and dances with the songs and has also been learning letters with it. We change the songs on it often to keep it from getting boring and he always gets it out when my husband or I get on our laptop. I think it is great and has survived a few falls down the stairs. They cutest thing is when he plays the songs on it to his baby sister to calm her down. Very well made toy.

5My 15 month old LOVES this personalized children's laptop by Somwon

I purchased this because my 15 month old shows so much interest in my laptop. It does not completely keep him away from mine but it does help. I was very surprized that I could choose music, emails etc. to put onto the Leaptop and can change it as often as I like. From and educational point of view I can set it up online to, when hooked up to my computer via USB, tell me where my child excells and where he needs help. My son plays with it at least 4 - 5 times during the day. He easily turns it on himself and always smiles when it starts by saying his name, he dances to the music, loves the animal sounds and pushes the alphabet buttons which sound out phonetically and say the letter as well as saying a word that begins with the letter. He drops it and stands on it and it seems to be holding up very well. I definitely recommend this!

5Display is dim by TwinMommy

My twin 3 1/3 yr olds like the toy but it is very hard to see the display sometimes. Must have bright bright lights on in the room. Guess it saves on the batteries?

5An enjoyable toy for little ones by Lisandrazoey

We got this for our daughter who is 18 months old. Though She doesn't really understand the functions (other than it makes sounds when she presses the keys), she always picks it up to play with it. I like that you can program the baby's name into it (that is if he/she has a relatively common name) that can be spoken by the computer and names of other people as well. You can also choose the music it plays.

5Good Distraction Toy by Amanda "Amanda"

I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old because we go on long car rides to visit my family. It keeps him occupied for at least an hour. Although, I wish it had more interaction instead of just pushing a button and telling him what the letters are, it's good reinforcement for his ABC's

5Wow! Fantastic! by Chany

I purchased this LeapFrog Leaptop for my grandson who has the LeapFrog dog, Scout, for a Birthday present. I haven't given it to him yet because his 1st birthday isn't for a couple months, yet. My 1 1/2 year old granddaughter got the LeapFrog Leaptop Violet and completely loves it. My grandson loves his dog, Scout, so I'm sure he'll like the Leaptop, too. What I like is the fact that it is easy to use and holds up well under toddler abuse. The activities also hold the young people's attention for much longer than toys usually do. LeapFrog My Own Leaptop

5Geek in Training by Shauna G

My 2 1/2 year old has been interested in mommy & daddy's computers and laptops since literally before he could talk, walk, or code (ok, he still doesn't know any programming languages). Not only is this toy great for giving him an alternative to beating up on the expensive grown-up electronics, but it really is educational. He is obviously learning the alphabet and animals with this toy (along with our family story/reading time). He loves his "compuuu", especially the music, personalized content, and for some reason he loves hearing the phrase "new blog entry". It makes him laugh almost every time.

My only complaint, which isn't even big enough to rate it down, is that you can't adjust the screen's contrast. The screen is really dark and consequently difficult to see in the light of our living room. My son doent seem to mind though.

I definitely recommend this toy. You get so much at a great price.

5Entertaining Toy by do288

Purchased this item for my nephew's 3rd birthday and he absolutely loved it. It keeps him entertained for quite some time and very educational.
