Slow start, but 18-month-old likes these now! by K. Gorgone "from Bab
I'd had my eye on these for a while, because our 18-month-old son loves music and has had a great time with the Laugh and Learn Piano from Fisher Price. When I finally received the maracas, though, he didn't seem at all interested. In fact, he seemed to dislike the noises they make. One is just a plastic maraca with shaker beads inside, which didn't much interest him. The other is a battery-powered one that lights different colors and has three settings (numbers, colors and music) in English and Spanish. After a while, he would pick up the one that has lights and sounds and check it out. Now he really seems to like it, although he gets bored if it's on the music setting, because it plays the same short refrain over and over again. (I get bored, too.) The reason I didn't give this toy five stars is because of the limited musical selections. All of the Fisher Price toys have numerous song options, which helps to toy to stay "fresh." This one only holds his attention for a few minutes at a time. I gave four stars for durability because we've only had them a month. In that time, though, he has chucked them around a fair amount, and they seem OK.
Awesome Toy! by Mary E. Wheeler "ran
I got these for my 1 year old Nephew for christmas, I wanted something he could grow with a bit but still enjoy now that was educational. He loved shaking the maracas and watching the colors change and he was even trying to mimic the voice counting colors and numbers a few times.
Definitely a great choice for any young kid who loves music.
Learn & Groove Counting Maracas by N. White
Bought this item for my recently year old twins. They love them. I was surprised to find that only one maraca was interactive. They are not very interested yet in the maraca that just rattles but I think this is a toy they will grow with. The twins love music so it is nice to be able to combine their love of music with learning.
I appreciate the fact that the maracas have a high and low setting for volume. I think the high volume is much too loud for a baby's ears.nw
Fun Maraca's by Carol S. Smith "Craf
We purchased this for our 15 month old granddaughter for Christmas this year and she just loves them. She has more fun with these than anything else she received. They have various settings for learning numbers, colors, etc., which at this point we need to change for her. But, she'll bring them to us and ask us to change it to a different setting! She'll be enjoying and learning from this product for a long time. We're very impressed with this product!
It's the 1st toy my son grabs everyday! by Jenni
This is the 1st toy my son (age 1) grabs from his toy basket. He loves them. If he doesn't have both of them in his hands then he at least has one of the maracas. He has even turned the one on by himself a couple of times. If he can't get it turned on, he'll crawl over to me and hand it to me so I can turn it on. He loves to dance to the music as he shakes them.
LeapFrog is wonderful.... by Mommy2TwoBoys "My Bo
These little maracas, which play in Spanish and English are an awesome toy. My son loves them. I have to say, I wish the other maraca lit up instead of just being a rattle, but that's fine. My son is usally only interested in the main maraca. My son got this just before turning 7 months old for Christmas. I'd have to suggest that you sit your baby up to play with this toy. Laying down leads to tears as they will bop themselves in the mouth, head or eye with the hard plastic toy. It's not that lightweight for little hands and they can't control it very well. Sitting up with this toy allowed for more control and less crying.
Good Maracas by Molly E. Smith
These are pretty nifty maracas, overall. I wish they'd made little popcorn balls or something that the little one could see rattling inside. It's also a little weird that one is a "normal" maraca that you can shake on your own, but the other one can't be rattled, but has colors and couting features that are initiated by being shaken. I guess I was simply looking for plain maracas, but these are still kind of neat.
Kids love this!!! by lyzzymommy
You should know only one of them light up not both. This was kind of a let down. They are really nice though!!! I hate that all toys are going the Spanish route. I would love it more if inside somehow you could change it to Spanish instead of the child being able to. I wanted my daughter learning English not Spanish...
Fun toy for my 1 year old by kr0520
I really like this toy but with all toys, my son seems to play with it and be over it pretty quickly. He still likes it though and he's had it for 6 months. One of the maracas has sound with a counting option, color option etc. The other one is just like a rattle. I don't think I realized that before I bought it. Anyway, the top changes color anytime you bang or shake it. That is one thing though...even I have a hard time shaking it enough for it to change. My son just bangs it on the floor or on his hand to make it change colors etc. Overall though, it's a good and extremely durable toy. I can't tell you how many times this toy has been drooped on our hard floors.
A bit disappointing by S. Smith "Online Sho
One of the maracas lights up and makes sounds instead of the traditional rattle sound. The other is the traditional rattle one. The battery operated one only works sometimes and it's disappointing that the two aren't the same.
IT`S INCREDIBLE! by jimmy toyo
Amazing, mi daugther loves this toy, and she spends a lot of time play whit it.
fun toy, a little dangerous by Monkey Boy
My son loves the counting maracas, the only problem is that the musical one is a little on the heavy side. When he was younger, he would sometimes bop himself in the head with it. Now he can probably crack a window with it. But, we let him play with it supervised. He loves the colored lights and the two different modes. He even noticies when it gets switched to spanish mode.
We are on the search for toys for our 10 month old to keep the smile on the face as much as possible. Lately our angel likes to shake stuff so we figured this is a good choice. One of the pieces is really a rattle the other one has the lights and sound. Definitely gets the shaking movements going for the baby. The light/sound unit perhaps a little too heavy, but still gets lots of attention. Nice.
Fun for a developing baby! by Rachel R. "Wife and
My 9 month old loves this toy. She understands that if she shakes it, she'll hear a new sound/word. She also loves the color changes. The toy is a little loud even on the low setting.
I bought this on a whim at Babies R Us. My daughter, who is 10 months, liked the shakers at a church play room, so I thought she might like these too. I was right. She absolutely loves this toy. She immediately figured out how to tap the one shaker to get it to make noises and change color. She even shakes it when it's off in the hopes of getting it to light up. And it keeps her occupied for a shockingly long time. She likes the other shaker too, which is not battery powered, but just rattles. The toy has three modes, numbers, colors and sound, and each of them is pretty cool. Since my daughter is only 10 months I don't think she's getting too much education out of it....but you can switch it to Spanish as well. The music gets really annoying after a while, and I always end up turning it off after like 15 minutes. But my kid LOVES this toy. It's pretty amusing to watch her play with it.
Keeps attention by Raleigh Owens
I bought this toy for my 8 month old son, and he loves it. He likes the sounds and music and especially the colored lights. I like that it is teaching number words, color words, etc. I also like that one maraca makes no special sounds (just shakes like a rattle), so when Mommy needs a break from the noise, I can have one! The only problem I have had is that my sons 4 year old sister keeps taking it away from him, because she likes it too!
Beautiful lights!!! by Amanda Heath "Amanda
My daughter loves these!!! She grabs them and shakes them and looks at the color and bobs her head!! It's adorable!! The colors are said as it lights up the colors so it is very educational I can also switch it to spanish!!!! I was a little disappointed that both dont light up but I guess that wouldn't be the best! ANYWAYS GET THIS!!! Very educational and perfect for any kid thats a fan of lights & music!
great fun but maybe only for calmer kids! by USA/UK Mom
We purchased these maracas for my one year old son this Christmas and he LOVES them - - he shakes them and does a little dance when the tune plays. However, they seem to make him SO excited that they often end up being used, inadvertantly, as clubs! Whether it's the floor, me, or his own cute little head - - he inevitably bangs them too hard against something and its ended in tears a few times already. So just a word to the wise that these can be hazardous in the hands of an over-excited toddler!
My 1 1/2 year old grandchildren enjoy these maracas. It's educational and keeps their attention for a good amount of time. I am happy with the entertainment that it is giving my grandchildren.
Cool toy by Carolina Girl "mom o
My daughter loves this toy, she's only 2. My oldest who is 4 tries to steal it every chance she gets. It's fun, to some it's annoying but I don't think so. It's loud on it's highest setting but my kids like it on the medium level sound setting. The last one broke because of a speaker malfunction. My husband didn't have a speaker to replace it so we bought a new one. Considering the typical abuse normal kids give to toys, I think this one lasted probably the longest out of our other kid's toys! We replaced it and my kids are thrilled!
This thing teaches:
Numbers
Colors of the rainbow
Has cool funny sounds
Teaches some Spanish
Yes I'd recommend this product. Probably to anyone under 3.
My 2 year old loves these. I love the fact it teaches spanish and english, numbers, and colors. very fun toy for the little ones, and inspires music play.
learn adn groove maracas by M. Whitney "whitneyf
My teens love this toy, but the baby could care less about it. Only one of the maracas work; the other is just a rattle. Don't waste your money!
Wouldn't Turn Off by ParentOfOne
Well, I bought this toy for my friend's, then, one year old daughter. I think she would have had fun with this toy, if the stupid thing would turn off. The little girl played with it for a minute, sat it down to play with other things she had just gotten for Christmas, and it still kept making noises. My friend and I turned the button to 'off' sat it back down and surprise! It still kept making noises. Had it not been for this MAJOR flaw, I would have rated the toy very well. But the point of an off button is so...oh, I don't know...the toy actually shuts off.
fun toy that's not too loud by BIANCA SHEPHERD-GAIT
I love this toy! Please do not purchase this toy for 50.00. You can find them at Wal-mart for around fifteen bucks. My 9 month old daughter loves to shake things and hear noise - so we bought this. She is shaking and learning all at the same time. Also, the sound can be low or high, and even the high is not very loud. I love the toy and we both dance around the house and have fun with it.
I just received these today from Amazon & im very disappointed. For some reason these only count to 3 & it says on the box that they're supposed to count to 10. Has anyone else had this problem? I will be returning this product.
This was by far the best gift my daughter received last Christmas, she wouldn't put them down and still takes them everywhere with her.
Great for 6 months up to toddler. by Dina
I brought this for my son when he was 7 months. He lost interest in these really quick. I thought he would love them since at lease one lights up. He is now 10 months and only plays with the one that shakes. I think he is too young to really appreciate the games on the other maraca.
leapFrog learn & groove by Yumari
is a toy that I loved from that route, because quite fun for children and in my country joins many folk songs and that's why my attention to give to my niece for Christmas .. I loved it and I hope you enjoy as much
I wishe BOTH marraccas played music, but on just rattles. It's ok, my daughter still loves them! She plays with em more now that she is a little older though :)
Not like the old ones by Colin's Mom
I loved the LeapFrog Maracas my niece had, so I bought these thinking they would be as good. They are really heavy for my little one to hold, and they don't hold her attention for more than a minute or two. They count, make silly noises, and say the colors. My little girl loves music, but these don't actually play any. The old version has a clear top, so the kids could see the beads shaking around. These are not see through. Just a disappointment.

I love this toy. It teaches kids numbers and colors in english and spanish. I could do without the spanish but if my daughter could learn a little about another language, I'm cool with that. It is a very good toy though. I would highly recommend it.
LeapFrog Learn and Grove by yogideb
I love this maraca set. I bought a the same thing 4 years ago for another relative's child. My granddaughter loves this because she is learning that she can make it 'talk' to her. She has a bilingual mother, so she (at 13 months) is learning both english and spanish. it is the perfect toy, and when I could not find it in the store, I checked Amazon, and of course they had it. I love 'cause and effect' toys.
CHEAPER at SHOPLEAPFROG.COM by Ben
Just bought this, so I can't tell you about the product, but wanted to let people know that you can buy this same product directly from leapfrog for $16!!!
My daughter loves this toy. She is only 9 months old, so not exactly learning her numbers and colors yet, but will be a great toy for years.
Music and Learning! by A. Niemann
My son loved these maracas sooo much that I bought them for my niece.
Just be aware that one maraca is battery operated (lights, sounds, etc) while the other is "just" a maraca.
Great toy!
My 18 month old son loves this Maracas... he mostly plays with them as drum sticks... only ONE of the maracas actually play's music and the other one shakes like a traditional maraca... He loves the music one more than the other one...
Fun, music, learning by verolicas69
We bought this for a one year old who just loves to dance and be in the middle of it all. Plus he has bilingual parents. So we thought this would be fun, educational & sooo cute!! He LOVED the gift!!
I bought it for my 15 monthes old daughter. She looked happy with the toys then. But I think there is problem how to learn number and color. It's not clear! Eventually, the toy turned simple for my baby.,(I mean just shaking). That's why she was bored for a couple of week.
Wonderful learning toy by Brandy Coley
