Stimulates Baby's Vision and Auditory Skills
When babies are first born, they see in black and white. This is why Stretch strikes a balance between bright, high contrast patterns that help stimulate baby's vision, and bold solid colors that give baby's eyes a place to rest. Sounds like rattle, crinkle, jingle, chime and squeak also help stimulate and develop baby's auditory skills. Finally, Stretch's large, friendly eyes invite baby to focus and stare at a single object, which can help calm baby while supporting healthy eye development.

Builds Coordination
Stretch has a soft, plush body and head that encourage exciting play or quiet cuddling. Stretchy legs feature colorful ribbons, knotties and clinky rings that help build coordination by rewarding baby's pulls, squeezes and grabs with fun sounds. Baby can also clutch or chew on the safe, cheery and clinky rings around Stretch's neck, and grasp and twist the securely fastened ears, horns and decorative ribbons.

Stretch measures 3.0 x 6.0 x 12.0 inches (WxHxD), is machine washable, and comes backed with a 90-day limited warranty.

5My baby loves it by S. Sprague "Sara(NYC

My 4 month old loves it, and has loved it since he was around 3 months old. I hang it from his bassinet, the toy bar on his stroller/car seat, and the toybar on his swing. It always catches his interest and as he's growing he's discovering new things about it. That the feet make sounds or feel crunchy, etc. It's great to watch him engage a toy like this. It's the first one that he had interest in, and the longest-lasting.

5Warning by M. Windham

A Personal Warning to all who have this baby toy by Lamaze. (Stretch The Giraffe)
PLEASE READ!!

I LOVED this giraffe..this thing is the cutest toy ever and I had placed this on my wish list for my baby shower last May. Well..I ended up receiving the giraffe from a good friend of mine for my baby shower like I had wanted. My son had only played with it maybe twice since he's been born, so it's still pretty brand new.

My son is 10 months old now, and we just moved to a new house last week, so I re introduced him to stretch yesterday, (still in super new condition) and he had been sitting in his highchair playing with him, chewing and biting on him as most babies will do with their toys. It's to be expected.

I was upstairs unpacking, my son was in his highchair next to my husband while he washed dishes when my son started choking!!

He was choking on the white stuffing inside the toys foot! He had managed to chew the thing until it became unstitched at the seams and that's when the stuffing began to fill his mouth. He must have swallowed a majority of what he had in his mouth. Needless to say, it was a frightening moment for all of us!!

UGH! I am just so disappointed and now concerned for anyone else's children who may have this toy!

Upon close inspection of this toy after the fact, I noticed that the stitching is very poor. Not nearly strong enough to withstand the mouth of a teething baby! I noted other parts of the giraffes seams and stitching where it has signs of also beginning to become unstitched!

The very worst part is the fact that had my son gone un noticed and not attended to right away, he could have very well choked completely, or the round small plastic squeaker (also inside the same foot he opened) could have also come out and easily become lodged inside his throat! In fact there are multiple "perfectly sized pieces" including a small round ball rattle, a more flat circular shaped rattle and the disc shaped squeaker (the one my son almost managed to get out) inside each foot. Again..they are very poorly secured inside the giraffe and are a major choking hazard! I hate to think of how many babies go to bed with this toy and are possibly left alone with it when they wake up in the morning or after a nap. Parent unsuspecting, because these toys made by learning curve are supposed to be designed with safety in mind. Safety being what Learning Curves number one priority is. I would have never have thought to check those details since I was convinced this toy or any toy designed by a big name baby toy company was undoubtedly safe to let my baby play with.

This toy needs to be recalled ASAP! I have contacted Learning Curve /Lamaze RC2 department regarding this serious issue, and Stretch the Giraffe is on his way back to them for inspection. I have no doubt they will issue a recall. If I were you...and just to warn parents ahead of time..please refrain from buying stretch for now! Or if you have him already, take him away from your baby...especially babies with teeth!

In an effort to make me, the consumer happy, they offered me a new toy and that's on it's way now, but in reality, is that really enough? Or does that make up for the fact that we watched our little son choke and go through that trauma? Imagining the scenario if we had not been right there to help him...would the new toy suffice? It's horrifying imagining the things that COULD have happened and Thank God that didn't.

In addition I am going to be weary of the new toy and I am not even sure he will play with it until I inspect every inch of it, and now I need to sit with him every second while he plays with in fear that some little thing could go wrong in a toy that has been deemed safe from a reputable company I have grown to love and trust. I just believe this is an honest mistake but a serious issue that was grossly overlooked. I know that Learning Curve will do the right thing in the end.

I will never send my son to bed nor leave him to play with ANY toy, stuffed animal, or object ever again for fear that he will wake up, be alone and begin innocently teething while I am still asleep, and something similar to this may happen. It's a good thing that wasn't the case this time.
Please parents...check the babies toys! You just never know!!

Forward this to all your friends who you think may have this toy, may buy it, are expecting a baby, have infants and small children.

5Great toy! by Ashley Volkerts "Ash

We had one of these before and it was my sons favorite toy. It got lost and if anyone said 'giraffe' he would start looking around for it. We bought a replacement and he is as happy as ever! The colors, the noises, he loves it all!

5Large and colorful by Angela Murphy "crzya

Item is colorful, but is large so make sure you look at deminsions. Has several noise features when my sons touch and play with it. This is one of their favorite toys at this age (4 months).

5Fabulous and Spans Many Months by Prepping for Two

Our 3 month old twins thought the face and legs were very intersting. At 5 months, they both now love to grab onto the tags, bite and chew on the face, and even fling him about by the handle. Highly recommend it.

5Huge Hit! by EmMarie

Being a new Aunt and about to see my niece for the first time at Christmas, I was a bit anxious to make a good impression (you know, because 3-month olds can be highly critical). I don't know too much about babies and wasn't sure how interactive they could be with a toy like this, but I thought I would take a chance - after all, could it be cuter?

Well I was excited to find out that my niece LOVES her giraffe (which has since been named in my honor). What I was a bit surprised to hear (and this is where my inexperience with lil' ones comes into play) was how much she engages with the toy - she grabs it, squeezes it, pulls it, chews on it - to hear its crinkle, rattle, etc. My brother also thinks the bright colors have a lot to do with her attachment.

Using my niece as the standard, I'm convinced that Lamaze has really done their homework when it comes to creating toys for babes. These Lamaze animals are now my go-to for baby gifts!

5Cutest by CharlotteMom

This is such a great toy. My son loves it. Just the right size, weight, many colors and features. Great price too even though this was sent by Grandma!

5Lamaze Stretch the Giraffe by Dave in Texas

This item is as cute as it can be. I purchased it for our 5 month old granddaughter and she seems to really like it. The stretchy legs and bright colors really attract attention from our little one. The communications, price and shipping time was all A+. Buy this with complete confidence.

5Fun toy, not so stretchy by Stace Of Base

I bought Lamaze's Stretch the Giraffe thinking the legs would be stretchy and fun for my 5 month old to grab onto, but the legs don't stretch really at all and the squeaky foot is weak. My son still does enjoy playing with it, since it is colorful and the front feet jingle and chime, but he likes the peacock Lamaze toy MUCH better.

5Awesome toy, but not very durable by Ted

My baby absolutely loves this toy... so much so that I had to buy a second one after she chewed through the foot of the first one and exposed some plastic and the stuffing.

This is the only reason why I gave this giraffe only 4 stars instead of 5. It is an awesome toy and my baby seems very interested in all of its parts--from the colorful feet, to the stretchy legs, to the ribbon hair, to the plastic rings. She can't keep any part of the giraffe out of her mouth.

I would have preferred that this giraffe have been a bit more durable. My baby doesn't even have any teeth, but she was able to chew through the stitching of one of the giraffe's feet.

5Girafffe by H. Montgomery

We have our giraffe hanging from the car seat. I really like all the different colors and patterns. Can't wait for my baby to start enjoying it.

5My son loves "Mr. G-raff"! by Kim "KM"

He's only 4 months old, but this is by far his favorite. It makes all sorts of sounds and has a lot of different colors to capture his interest. His face just lights up when I pull this toy out. He loves to suck and chew on his ears, which make a crinkle-sound.

Only negative is that my baby managed to pull the clip off within a week of playing with him (made me wonder if this is a quality product). On the bright side, the clip annoyed me and I wanted it off anyhow.

54 month old loves it by C. W. Davis "new mom

Got this for my 4 month old and he loves it. The legs are easy for him to grab and hold on to.

5Good buy! by Chanda Cowen "chanda

I purchased this for my 4 month old daughter. It hangs from her car seat and she loves to play with it. The legs are stretchy and the feet jingle when moved. It's very long, so she can reach it easy! She loves it!

5My son's first favorite toy! by bdbear

This was my son's first favorite toy when he was a few months old and just discovering the world around him. He would smile at it whenever he saw it and loved to play with it. It has wonderful colors, each foot makes a different sound and it's soft. Wonderful toy for baby!

5My daughter's favorite friend!! by Erin J. Kozlowski

This WONDERFUL giraffe was given to us as a baby gift. From the very start, my daughter has loved this giraffe!! She likes to nibble on his ears and tail. She loves to play with the legs and cuddle with him, We can not leave the house without taking him with us! She got him when she was only about a month old, and she is almost 9 months old now, and still loves him. He has become quite a good friend for her :) I highly recommend Stretch the Giraffe, and we will have to buy another one incase she loses him.

5Great toy! by Michelle

My four month old son loves his giraffe! Each foot squeaks or rattles or crunches and it keeps him entertained.

5Just Adorable! by Nann

The giraffe is just adorable. Can't wait to give it to my future grandson. I am sure he will love it.

5Baby's favorite toy by Jewels

At 2 1/2 months, baby LOVES this toy. We got her the toy at 2 months old, and she loved it from the beginning. As the weeks go by, she grows even more attached to it. It has loads of places for baby to grab ahold of, making this the first toy that she wants to play with. It is relatively light weight. Lots of different materials/textures to feel. There are different types of sounds to entertain her. She especially likes to hear the crackling sound as she grabs ahold of the ears. When I bought this toy, I was surprised that the legs are not stretchable, but baby doesn't seem to mind. She is fascinated by the colors, sounds and feel. She stares at or plays with the toy for an hour at a time, giving Mommy and Daddy a chance to get caught up on things around the house.

5Packed full of fun! by Dorothy Steinbeck "n

The lamaze toys in general are wonderful. I purchased five different ones for my grandson an they are among his very favorites. While at home or driving in the car of visiting friends, this is a great toy to have along. It makes lots of wonderful noises because it has crinkly parts and rattling parts and teething rings and legs to pull with rattling things inside. He's also great to gnaw on and to cuddle. The hook makes it easy to attach to anything, stroller, car seat, high chair, etc. Oh, he also squeaks if you press his middle. We love this guy!

5My daughter loves it! by M. Kramer "piano mam

When my daughter was 2 months old, I bought this toy in hopes that it would help her develop her grabbing skills. Not only has she done that, but she LOVES to stare into his eyes and laugh and smile. She has begun having conversations with him as I help him respond to her babbling. The colors on it are also exciting and stimulating for her... who wouldn't smile when you look at him?

5Love It! by KJS

My 8 month old son loves this giraffe. We have several other Lamaze products and I am very happy with this brand. Shipping was prompt and accurate also.

5My son's favorite toy by Catherine "katya3119

This giraffe is terrific. The feet make 4 different sounds (bells, crackling, squeaking, and shaking) and are easy for baby to put in his or her mouth. The white hook not only makes the toy easy to attach to the car seat or swing bar, but gives baby something to grip (keep an eye on it, though, since it can sometimes end up half way up baby's arm). My son loves to put the blue "horns" in his mouth. Now that he's 4 months, he sleeps with his giraffe every night. We know when he's awake because we often hear the bells.

5Had to buy a 2nd one by P. Coe "Laurell K. H

I bought this for our three month old granddaughter for her to play with when we babysat but she loved it so much it went home with her and we had to buy another one to stay at grandmama's and granddaddy's house.

5Fun toy but the Butterfly is better! by C. Briceno

This toy is fun, but it doesn't hold my daughter's attention like the butterfly. Also, it would help if the clip was either a little longer or positioned differently.

5not quiete what I expected by V. Pizarro "nessa"

Well I ordered this toy to put on my daughters car seat, and I know this is a pretty large toy you could see from the pictures ppl post, but I looked at this because when I write in car seats toys, this came up. but the legs are to long and are right on my daughter face and she hates it! and I do too! I thought the legs stretched in a form like when u pull them down they go back up by themselves in slow motion or something but no the stretch is wack, its like stretching a shirt. I kept the toy just beacuse I dont want to to through the process of returning it for only 10$ maybe when my daughter gets older shell like it. shes 3 mo. now

5My son likes it by A. Lee

This is a cute giraffe and totally machine washable, which is very important to me. The only downside is not enough plastic rustling sounds, which I think baby likes. The peacock is very rustly, but in my opinion, not as friendly-looking as the giraffe. My son seems to be drawn to the yellow.

5Buy Freddie the Firefly instead by Jeremy

My child hates this toy. He likes Freddie the firefly much better. This toy does not make the crinkle noise. The foot is suppose to honk and stopped honking after one month of light play as child was only 3 months old. My child at one point was afraid of this animal. It does have bright colors but is not fun for him at all. I highly recommend freddie the firefly by lamaze instead.

5Choking Hazard! WARNING! by Tiffany In TX

I am the original writer of the previous Warning post! Thank you M. Windham for posting my story for me. I am glad my word travelled FAST today!

YES....this toy is a danger. Lamaze actually sells several other "characters" similar to stretch that appear to have this same issue. Very THIN fabric and POOR single stitching is all that comes between your baby's mouth and SMALL parts, rattles and stuffing inside the feet. The rattles and squeakers are the PERFECT size for lodging in your babies throat.

Take this thing away please before they unsuspectingly chew the stitchings off the same way my son did. My son is okay, but it's the principal and what if's that get me about this! How could that be over looked?? I love Lamaze toys, but will seriously be weary of thier products from now on.
