5Nice first doctor kit by organaut

I bought this kit for my toddler after reading reviews of other similar kits not made by Fisher-Price. I was mostly swayed by the brand and the "working stethoscope" promise. The kit is well-made and durable, with no sharp plastic edges or anything that looks like it could come off and become a choking hazard. The stethoscope does conduct sound, however you really need to press it to someone's chest to hear the heartbeat faintly. I will get a real stethoscope somewhere at a pharmacy to supplement this. Otherwise, all the other tools are fun to use and educational. For anyone considering a start up doctor kit, I recommend buying from a trusted brand so you know the items are of good quality with no unfinished seams/edges or the like.

5Would not buy this again by MomofTwo

First I'm not sure why this is [...] bucks on Amazon, you'll be even more disappointed if you get it for THAT price. Paying the $[...] at Target will make you feel a bit better when you realize it's not that nice so at least you didn't pay to much for it. My toddler likes it but I'll tell you the cons I see from it.

1) It says it has a real working stethescope. Like the other reviewers here, to say it's a "working" one is stretching it, it's hard to hear the heart through it. The worst part though is that having it on your ears to wear actually is uncomfortable. My daughter said it hurts to wear.
2) The blood pressure tool was kinda funny, it secures closed with velcro that is so far apart that it was very loose on my husband! It literally falls off my child. So we added more velcro to it.
3) The bag is closed with one small square of velcro allowing the tools to topple over when you toss the bag into the toy bin or if the child spills it.

And all that from a brand I expected more from. Hmmm. I'm currently looking at a nicer set from Target made by "Parents" company, it has more tools and a real latching doctors box.

5Great pretend play! by J. Bailey "music lov

I bought this for my 3 1/2 year old for Christmas and it's great! When I use the blood pressure cuff, I gently squeeze his arm around the cuff so he understands how blood pressure is taken. This came in handy since he was rushed to ER last week with a bougt of croup! He'd never had his blood pressure taken before and I was able to explain that it was just like in his doctor kit. I think this is a great way to get kids comfortable with these tools so they don't fear the doctor.

5Brings back fond memories... by Chickie

My 1 yr old and 3 yr old LOVE it! They are constantly taking our temperatures and giving us shots. And my 3 yr old always brings me the band aid if she thinks I'm hurt. It's my understanding that the blood pressure cuff is intentionally big/loose... i.e. there is less risk of kids getting hurt with a loose cuff vs. a tight fitting one. As for the complaints about the stethoscope...I've put it on and it's really not bad. Neither of my kids have complained about any kind of discomfort. As for it not working well...come on people- IT'S A TOY! It works well enough for good child play time and that's all it needs to do. If you want something more functional- get something "cheap" at a medical supply store.

5scary moment by Karen Beatty

I have always been a fan of Fisher Price products and through out the years this product was always my first choice. I bought the product and my granddaughter put her finger through the ear instrument. Her finger was clearly stuck and I immediately took her to the sink and poured dishwashing liquid through and all over the instrument and inside the hole. It took me a while to get the knuckle unstuck. Her finger began to swell and I had my doubts whether I could get the instrument off her finger. The toy is built very thickly so there was no breaking it. Good news is the finger finally came loose from the product. Thank God!!! Fisher Price, please recall this product. At best please remake the ear instrument with a hinge or a decal showing the inside or the ear instead of a hole that a toddler can get their finger stuck. Ear Instrument.jpg I wanted to contact Matel service directly but I needed to call back Monday thru Friday. There was no email info.

5Mediocre at best by Octavio

This toy exemplifies mediocrity. Small velcro tabs on the blood cuff render the cuff unusable. The stethoscope is made with rigid plastic that cause the earpieces to pop up out of the ears when used. The stethoscope is advertised as functional but barely meets the definition.

We tend to stay away from FP toys because of the inferior quality. This was a gift so of course we appreciate the thoughtfulness but it also is a reminder why we avoid FP products.

5Disappointment by Gamma Rae

Although my granddaughter goes back to this toy often, it is not well constructed. The stethoscope is made with a one-sided cover on the hoses, so it twists and cannot be placed comfortably on the ears. The over-sized thermometer, syringe and ear examination scope are safe. The blood pressure cuff could use more Velcro, as where it is currently placed, its too long to fit a small arm, child's or adult's. I remember a doctor kit I bought for my daughter years ago--it was well put together, I would not recommend purchasing this item.

5Two Bad Pieces by SLEEME

Best: The shot has a plunger you can depress which is fun; you can pick the setting on the thermometer (happy or sad). Since my daughter likes this, I will keep it, but I wish I would have bought something else. As others have noted (and as I should have read first), you cannot hear a heartbeat with the stethoscope; worse, it's a little stiff so that if you raise up the part that is supposed to be listening to the heart, the whole things swivels up because the plastic arms are so stiff. Also the pieces that go in your ear are not comfortable. Second, and this is a huge design flaw... I have no idea what Fisher Price was thinking -- the blood pressure cuff is only good for 200+lb men and up. I had to unsew the velcro and resew it to fit.

5Not as high-quality as I remember by J. Lindgren

I remember having the Fisher Price doctor kit when I was young, and I recently bought this version for my 4-year old. It's not nearly as sturdy as my old version... the plastic is thin and feels cheap and the bag just isn't as nice as that old plastic case. My son is enjoying it, but I'm not expecting it to last long, and I wish I'd got something more substantial.

5Toys r us sells it for 10.99!!! by V. Tavares "vivift"

Iven if you buy it from toysrus.com and pay for the shipping it will be cheaper them 25$!!!

5Little Dr. by Cfrank

This kit my child absolutely loves. I get my heart and ears checked at least once a day. It has helped her to understand her physician appointments better. I would recommend this sturdy toy.

5Great way to practice before a doctor's visit! by Jennifer Quinn

I got this as a Yule present for my two and a half year old. He had a horrible 2 year check up with the doctor, and I wanted to introduce him to the instruments the doc would use in case we had to go back. He enjoys the stethoscope, and likes to "check" my eyes and ears. Everything is a bit hard to get back in the bag, but that is a minor setback for an overall great toy.

5Very cute and fun! by Bondgirl

My son loves it. It's worth the money and you pay for what you get. It's the most realistic stuff for this age range.

5Fun for the imagination by mommyo

Overall it will be a fun toy. I would suggest the doctor set with the box rather than the bag. It is kind of flimsy.

5Amazing by M. Kolousek

so worth the money we have had this toy for years and it still works amazingly one of the most durable doctor kist you can find all of the things really work excellent toy

5Medical Kit by Melis

My 2 yr old grandson loves this toy. He plays w it all the time and it is safe w no small peices. The price was bout average compared in the stores. I will gladly pay 2$ more to never have to leave my house to shop!!! I would recommend the product

5Child's medical kit by Sylvia "Sylvia"

Our granddaughter really liked this medical kit. She played with it for hours with her cousins taking their temperature, listening to heart beats, etc. She told one of her aunts to "pull your pants down so that I can give you a shot"! Great imagination and learning toy for young people. She is 2 1/2.

5Good for pretend play by R. Bunton

I hate that I bought this from Amazon just a few days ago, and now it's already three dollars cheaper...however, I didn't take off stars for that.

The bag is the best thing about this kit, because all the pieces fit in and it makes the whole toy more durable. All the pieces work, including the stethoscope...although, you have to listen in carefully.

This was supposed to be a holiday gift (I also bought a book to go along with it), but my son got to the shipping box before I did, so I let him have it early last night. Since then, he's been performing check-ups on me and all his stuffed animals. I think I've gotten about 39 "shots" between last night and this morning. He woke up today saying, "I'm gonna play doctor!"

Overall, I'd buy this toy again.

5oldie but goodie by Erryn Rivas

We love this set and have had such a great time pretending to be doctors. I only wish the stethoscope worked better. It has helped with some of the doctor anxiety and when we come home from an appt she always gets her bag out and acts out the visit again. I especially love that if you sneeze she has to get her doctor bag and make you better.

5Excellent for a 4 year old by Lynn Benson

At 4, my daughter is old enough to understand how the blood pressure cuff works (don't rip/pull it off or it might break if you do that too much.) I can see how some of these items may get broken with the 'carelessness' of a younger child, even though this appears designed for the toddler aged child. We like it because (a) it has a carrying bag so she can keep her stuff together and (b) there's a variety of doctor toys to play with. And at the low price we got it for, it's perfect.

5Great for little ones! by 2ndheartmom

This kit has a lot in little package! My daughter (20 MO) loves walking around with the stethoscope on and playing with the thermometer. I think it has just the right amount of items and the items require some imagination on the part of the child. I like that it isn't high tech with noises and alarms and batteries, but just a simple set of toys they can use in different ways. The items are very durable and withstand a lot of abuse.

5Great toy by deputypike

My daughter loves this set. Takes to the doctor's office and help do exams on her younger brother.

5Attention Span of a Gnat Fly by N. Ly

My boy was into wanting to play "doctor" so I got him this set. Once it was in his little hands. He loved it. Went about giving everyone shots, checked their temperature and refusing service if you didn't have insurance. Of course, I should realize that kids have the attention span of a gnat fly. The set was played with for about 1 week before it was tossed aside for the next best thing. I looked around for all the pieces and will re-package for my daughter.

52 Year Old Loves it! by Lisa

Great toy. My 2 year old loves to give me doctor check ups with it. The stethescope doesn't really let you hear a heartbeat, but it is still a cool pretend toy for my daughter.

5Just like it was 30 years ago! by Alexis in chicago

Almost exactly like the one I had as a kid. The stethoscope is hard to get to stay in your ears (or a child's ears) - seems like that part was better back in the day... But all in all a great Dr kit for my young son and a great buy!

5Great! by >

Very cute. It is very durable and my son has fun using it when someone in the house is sick, lol! Better than other kits we've had.

5Great for pretend play by Alanor Brandybuck "A

For the value, this is a great doctor's kit. It's got everything a kid needs, except a doctor or nurses coat which you can buy separately. The pieces are colorful, simple and sturdy. The only problem is that the band on the blood pressure guage doesn't fit anyone's arm. The velcro is in a wierd spot so you can't get it tight enough to stay on. Apart from that, all the pieces are fun. My three year old daughter loves to play with it even though she's had it for two years. And my nine month old son loves to chew on some of the pieces.

5okay not great by Lindy Dohmen-harter

I bought this for my son and niece, now i don't know what my niece thinks of it but my son like to play with it alright. He is not too interested in it, he likes the real thing better. I don't like the thermometer in this pack, i just don't think its realistic. The cuff is kind of cheap and it barely fits around someones arm.

Not worth buying i think!

5it's a classic by B. Hagen

it doesn't matter if the child is a girl or a boy. All kids seem to enjoy playing like they are a doctor or nurse. This toy has been around for years and for obvious reasons. Kids love it! It is durable, easy to clean and fun.

5Grammi by TCher
