This is the best rattle. It's small, lightweight, great bright colors, easy for the smallest hands to grab and not overly loud. One end is a clear globe, the other is mirrored inside which catches the light and give s abit of added visual interest. I am horrified to see it listed for twenty bucks though as they are a dollar at Wally World!!
My son is 8 months old. My mother and mother-in-law have rattles just like this and when I saw how much he liked playing with them I just had to get one. It's great to give to him while I change his diaper or something like that, it keeps him from trying to roll over and escape.

This is the best rattle. It has little rungs for little hands to grasp. It was the first rattle she could get a grip on. A lot of our other rattles are too big. She gets a hold and shakes, shakes, shakes. Lots of fun.

I had been looking at this toy in our supermarket for a while - I was going to get it as a 'stocking stuffer' for my daughter who will be 6 months at Christmas. Well we were in our supermarket again the other day and I decided that she had enough new stuff to play with on Christmas and that I hadn't got her a new toy in a while. It was cheaper at the big-chain supermarket than it is here on Amazon, so a bargain!
I showed it to my baby and she got excited and wanted it - we paid for it, took it home and gave it to her then. She loves that it is easy to grab hold of and that it is light enough she can batter it off of her other toys! It makes a nice rattling noise, nothing harsh or too loud (apart from when it is being battered against a Jumperoo!!) but noisy enough that she keeps on shaking it enthusiastically. I offer her this toy when she is sat in her Jumperoo/highchair/laying on the floor and her eyes will light up and she reaches out and grabs it and proceeds to try and fit the rattles into her mouth - they are a bit too big for that, so this isn't really one of those toys which can be chewed on easily.
The toy seems well made (I was a little concerned with how violent she was being with it incase the plastic cases of the rattly balls broke and scattered the tiny balls everywhere - but I don't think that's going to happen! It's sturdy enough to stand up to an over-excited 6 month old!) it's bright and appealing for a young baby.
I would recommend this as a great little rattle for younger babies - as soon as they can really grab things - and I expect my daughter will be interested in this for a good while now. Nice, simple, noisy enough for baby but not loud enough to offend adult ears & SO easy for little hands to grab a hold and keep a hold, even if they decide to beat it off of everything in sight!

This rattle has the best design. The "double helix" style connectors between the two balls are perfect for little hands to grasp. My son, who is now six months old, loves this rattle more than all others. When he was a newborn, just learning to fix his gaze on objects, he enjoyed following this rattle as I shook it in front of him. It was the first object that he could grasp firmly, and now he loves to pick it up, drop it, exchange it between hands, teethe on it, and -- of course - shake it himself.
As far as concerns over it being hard plastic, well -- hard plastic is just that -- hard. Know your kids and what they are and are not ready for. My son likes to shake all of his toys vigorously at this point, and while occasionally he'll bop himself in the face, he has never sustained any injury from doing so (if anything, he has an expression of surprise for a moment or two before resuming play). Moreover, I find this particular rattle to be safe as it has rounded edges and is fairly small, so he has a better command of it than some of his other toys, too. Also, it's very easy to wash clean with dish soap and warm water -- a bonus for parents.

This is a great rattle for infants. It has handles that are light enough to be picked up easily and the rattle is not too loud but can keep my baby entertained for hours. The noise is definitely not too distracting and I would recommend this product to any mum or dad because it is simple a safe and smart buy.
First rattle for my son was Sassy Rattlin Rings, and when he was 3 months the thing was not enough attractive for him, and also too heavy. I just got Bright Starts rattle and he loves it! It's colorful, lightweight, colorful and shake noise is not too loud. He can hold this for a long period. Overall great toy!

Our four month old loves to shake this. Even though he sometimes hits himself in the head I would recommend this product.
My babies have quite a few rattles and this is their favorite one. I love the colors and sound that it makes. It is very easy for them to hold onto. I have always hated the sound those phone rattles make and they are not as easy to hold onto. My babies also like chewing on the handle. Definitely recommend this over other rattles.
I bought this rattle for my daughter and she absolutely loves it, it is easy for her to grasp in her hands and the colors are very girly and cute.

The twisty handles of this rattle make it easy for a baby to grasp, and harder for them to drop. It's colorful and sparkly and makes good noise, my baby was happy to have and play with this a bunch!

This was a gift. Our son could grasp this rattle when only a few months old. The handles are shaped in such a way that is perfect for babies to grasp. He loved the rattle. Even before he could really grasp it he was mesmerized by the colors and sound. It has been dropped many times, dragged across the floor, dunked in water and is still in very good shape. There are a few scrapes across the plastic ends but nothing major.

We literally cannot leave the house without this thing. I bought this on a whim one day and I am so glad I did. She loves it. She is just now learning to reach out and grab and this was the first thing she learned to hold. She can even shake it a little bit. Only thing is that the rattle is hard, so if she gets too vigorous she can hit herself in the head. I would definitely say to use caution with this toy and lot let your child play with it without supervision just in case she konks herself on the noggin.
This rattle is made with too hard of materials. It needs to be made with softer materials. A baby can easily hit themself in the face with this hard rattle. We don't use it at all for now.

I bought this on amazon for about $3 and I see the current price is $8. It is a light weight rattle that is easy for babies to handle. Cant hardly beat it for $2 at Walmart.

I took my 4 month old daughter to Target to see if she would pick out any small new toys and she took to this immediately! Several days later and this is still a new favorite. Perfect for practicing her dexterity because her little fingers can grab and move between the twisty part to hold it. Definitely a new fun thing to put in her mouth :)

Such an awesome design! At first the baby accidentally holds on to it because the hand is inside of it, then they realize how awesome that is, and work on doing it purposefully! We could really see this rattle aiding our daughter's development.
Our little girl is almost 11 weeks old, and I just purchased this rattle for her last week (based on the reviews here). I got it at Wal-Mart. Already she's comfortable grabbing it, and can hold onto it for long periods of time with her little fingers. In the last couple days she started trying to gnaw on it.
Great (and inexpensive) toy for a very young infant to explore, and great for tiny hands. The only downside of it ... is that she bonks herself in the face with it ... a lot ... and hard! She doesn't seem to mind it yet, but I'd still supervise your child with this toy.

This toy is great in that my baby can actually get her small fingers to grasp the middles section of this toy.
Unfortunately, this toy is made of hard plastic, so she'll accidentally bonk her forehead when bringing this toy to her mouth. Maybe in the future, she'll play with her toys more ....

I have four children and have tried dozens of different rattles of various textures, sizes, sounds, and price. This rattle is by far the best. ALL my children as well as nieces, nephews, and goddaughters have LOVED this rattle. It makes a nice amount of noise, great colors (pink and purple/ red and blue) the design is super easy for their tiny hands to grip (at a younger age than other rattles), it holds up well in the dishwasher and is super cheap. This is a fantastic baby gift. If you are like me and lose/misplace items, buy them in bulk. Cheap enough that you can get one for the car, one for the stroller, one for the diaper bag, etc.
I bought this for my new born. It was good when WE made sound to catch attention for baby's entertainment. He would smile by looking at it. But when he grew where he can hold it & shake it, he used to hit himself on his head & then cry. It does not have any soft edges, it is all plastic.

My 6 month old grandson has many toys but this is the one he likes the most. We can always count on it to hold his attention and to calm him when he is fussy. Looking at it you would not think it would be so attractive to a child, but as you can see from all the reviews it is a winner!

This was the very first rattle my son was able to hold at 3 months. He could get his little hands around it because of the thin designed handles unlike many other "infant" products these days. At 5 months he still gets excited when I shake it and hand it to him, or he picks it up on his own. Good first rattle for baby, just not very chewable or soft...

This rattle has been perfect for my infant (now 8 months old). It has small handles and is light enough that it was one of the first objects that he could grasp and pick up. And it is a nice rattle that makes enough noise to entertain, but not too loud as to be annoying. He still enjoys the rattle today, and it is quiet enough I let him use it in church. I would recommend to any new parent.

The two bars in the middle are small enough my 3month old can hold it which is nice but the only down fall is it's very hard and I just have a feeling when she gets older and is holding it without any help she may end up hitting herself with it and hurt herself.

My 7 1/2 mo old has been coveting this rattle for the last couple months. I found it while shopping and she wouldn't put it down. Now we have to take it everywhere because it is her favorite toy to shake, chew and now throw. Makes a pleasant rattling sound.

It does what it was made to do: it rattles! For those who want something that rattles, and nothing more fancy, this is it. My 2-month old son loves to hold this and watch it as it moves (although he doesn't yet realize he's the one doing the shaking).

I received several of these as shower gifts. They became my baby girl's first thing to grab, pick up and hold. The twisted narrow handles work great for little first hands and fingers. Most other rattles are very large to grasp for early on.

This is a cute little rattle with nice girly colors, but, my baby is just not into it yet. Nice for the price.
My daughter has a dozen rattles and she likes this one the most,it's been 3months since i bought it and she is still shaking it so it's a catch for this prize.
