Lots of Different Ways to Throw a Bendy Ball by Citizen John
My twin 9-month olds, like all babies of that age, love to show when they're displeased by throwing something. When they try that with the Bendy Ball, most of the time they forget why they got upset.
This cute thing can be bent while holding and you can put your fingers inside it. Plus the ball inside that you can't quite get out has a little ball inside it that sounds like a bell almost. If you want to throw it to show your displeasure at something, you'll end up putting your fingers into it first. Those distractions are priceless.
By the time baby finally rolls this ball, it is with a positive frame of mind, and she wants it back to try again.
I can see that this durable little toy is going to be used in many ways and constantly. It's a lot of fun to roll their way and see how they try to figure out what to do with it.
Beyond that, the colors are great. The 5 outer caterpillar parts on diameter are cute. I think this is an educational toy that teaches about hand manipulation.
My four month old loves it! by Jennifer
A mom in my group had a similar one of these for her baby who just loved it. So when we were walking through the baby aisles at Target, we saw this one and just put it in the stroller with our baby to see if he would like it--and he played with it the entire time! So, of course, we bought it!
He has many other rattle-type toys meant for grabbing, but this is the first one he has actually grabbed on to and played with. It is very sturdy and actually a little heavier than I anticipated by just looking at it--I was worried it might be too heavy for him to pick up (since we had never really seen him pick up anything before) but he manages with no problems!
Good for grabbing by BC's mama
I like this toy because my almost 6-month old son can easily grab and hold on to it. However, he's at the stage where he wants to put everything in his mouth, and he tends to get frustrated becaues this doesn't really lend itself to being chewed on. I think he'll like it more when he can play with it like a ball, rather than trying to use it as a teether.
careful -- sharp edges that can hurt fingers by Lavienair
This is a poorly designed product. The photo conceals the fact that the rounded-off struts forming the grabbing surface of the ball are completely flat on the back. This creates a hard, quite sharp edge wherever the child grasps the ball and it can scrape the skin if the child shakes her hand it to let go (like some other reviewers' kids, our son sometimes had trouble figuring out how to release his grasp at first and would try to shake it off his hand). It's also fairly heavy, firm plastic so when the child flings it it can hurt a toe or forehead, though not seriously.
The toy is really not suitable for young babies, and I am surprised it is so popular. We got rid of this one and got a few Oballs [Original Oball] - similar concept, minus the ball inside, but made of truly soft and rounded-off rubbery plastic. It super easy for babies to grab and toss, and light enough that it can't hurt anyone even if thrown hard. Another version also includes a rattle, which our son liked. (I have nothing to do with Oball and am NOT trying to astroturf -- just annoyed at Baby Einstein for selling this poorly thought out product).
I Prefer Oball over this ball by P. Parks
Oball makes balls similar to this one and our children love them. They even make the baby version with a rattle inside. My children prefer the regular without the rattle and it will be played with for years rather than as a baby toy that will soon be forgotten. My kids put small stuffed animals inside the ball and roll them around the room. They are also easy for little fingers to hang on to. Get the Oball! Skip this one. This ball has that smiley face thing that makes the ball roll less smoothly across the floor.
I got this for my son when he was about 4 months old, and he immediately loved it. He could grab it anywhere as the ball is an open lattice and shake it like a rattle. Later, he would throw it to hear it jingle. Very inexpensive and you can clip it onto a stroller or carseat with links. Inexpensive entertainment.
Baby likes but a lot of visible screws and not bendy by Kaylan
Baby likes this but I do question safety given all the interior screws which you can easily see. If one comes lose and you don't realize it, baby may swallow it. It is not really bendy (have to be really strong to push it in) and should have a hook or some way to attach to stroller or seat because it quickly falls out of little hands. It is a nice concept, just needs some changes, especially with the screws! Also, not sure if this is BPA free or not.
so simple yet entrancing by Akaijen
It could be that my daughter has a thing for balls b/c she also likes the plastic Gymboree balls. I bought this around 4 months. It was easy for her to pick up and mouth. At 7 months she likes to throw it and shake it.
I will say that it's not very bendy. I'd describe it as "having some give." My daughter can't bend it herself, and it takes some effort on my part. It also don't roll around like a ball, owing to the caterpillar running along the outside of the ball. I find this useful b/c it doesn't roll out of my daughter's reach, but don't get it if you're expecting to play ball with it.
Smell Like Cheap Plastic! by Lover_8929
I bought this product from amazon last month. If I was shopping anything from amazon, I always get a couple of toys for my twin baby girls. After seeing the almost five star Baby Einstein Bendy Ball and reading all the good comments about it, I decided to get it for my 3 mons old girls.
I was happy to receive the toy after two days of free shipping, and just like the picture online it's a colorful and interesting toy. I was anticipating it to bring new sense stimulation to my girls.
However when I opened its plastic bag a HORRIBLR PLASCTIC SMELLING came out. It smelled like stink cheap plastic material. This definitely made me concerned about giving it to my babies. I tried everything to get rid of the smelling. I washed it with soapy water several times, used hot water rinsed it, put it in the freezer to kill the smelling...you name it...but the smelling is still there. It is so stinky that I don't even want to touch it afraid of poison.
I really liked the design of this ball, and if the company uses a better material I would possibly love it. But now I have to throw away this toy because it is not safe for my babies.
There are mixed feelings about this toy. My daughter called it a giant cat toy,,lol. It does have small holes that a little finger can get caught in and probably hurt a bit. It is colorful and makes a great jingling noise that babies love but i didnt like the small holes around the middle of the ball where the circles are. They should either be much smaller so little fingers cant go in or they should be closed up completely some how. Take a good look at it and decide for yourself if it is safe for your baby.
Be Careful! by SH
Be careful when buying this product. We received this ball in a baby einstein gift set. The ball is HARD and my son repeatedly hit himself in the head while shaking the ball. It does NOT bend, still note sure why they call it a bendy ball. Also, the plastic is kind of sharp when you put your fingers through the holes. I would not call this ball infant friendly. On many occassions it caused my son to cry and we just ended up taking it away from him.
Nice concept, but in practice, not as good. by L. Augustine "reach4
We bought this for my little one when he was around four months. With all the openings on it, it was very easy for him to grab and hold. However, once he had a hold of it, he didn't really know what to do with it. With it being round, the only part of it that he could really get in his mouth was the piece holding it together, so he basically just licked it. Wasn't his favorite toy. He is now 9 months now and has no interest in this toy at all.
fun and bright bendy ball by sarah f
My daughter received this as a gift not long after she was born. As soon as she was able to grasp it, she would shake it like a rattle or try to reach the ball inside. The bright colors and intriguing holes easily made this one simle toy my daughter loved playing with. It is extremely durable and easy to clean in the dishwasher (top rack!). I will be giving this very affordable ball as a gift to several new moms in the near future.
My daughter loves hers by Katewils13
I thought my daughter would be a little old for this toy, but she actually really loves this ball. I purchased this at the same as another Baby Einstein product I thought she would like better, but this is what she usually goes for in her toy basket. It is very easy for her to grasp and whip around. She also likes to chew on it, and since it's not made from hard plastic, I think it feels good on her gums.
Baby Einstein Bendy Ball by amanda5612
My daughter absolutely loves this toy. Not only is it fun to roll around but it is so soft that she can even chew on it while she is teething. Awesome little toy for babies.
nice, simple toy & easy for baby to pick up by Erin
This was the first toy my daughter really played with and the first she picked up by herself. Not too much to say about it as it's pretty simple and doesn't need much explanation, but it is really great. My daughter played with it a lot from about 3-6 months of age. It's a nice, quiet toy and is easy for a baby to grasp. I would definitely recommend it.
Lots of fun for the little ones. I bought this for my great-grandson's 1st birthday and he's having literally a "ball" with it". Shipping was a bit on the slow side, did not arrive on time as expected. Otherwise, a nice little gift for the tots in your family.
bought it for my 3 month old and she is still enjoying it at 5 month old. Likes to put her fingers in, cant always figure out how to get them out. A great toy for travel, not very big and keeps her interest.
My almost 4 month old started playing with it as soon as I took it out of the packaging. It is an outstanding toy for development.
There are two reasons why I annot give it a 5 star rating: 1) it is on the small side, and, even at $6, it's a so-so deal. 2) It's too easy for slightly older babies and toddlers to get their hands stuck trying to retrieve the little rattle ball.
Otherwise this is a great toy, and I do recommend it despite my personal beefs.
Baby Einstein Bendy Ball by Donna M. Mosley
New grandson will have great fun with this toy. It is easy to grip for small hands.
The baby liked the "Bendy Ball" by Penny Ewert "Momma P
this toy was very colorful and caught the baby's attention from the start. I purchased this toy as a Christmas gift. It was easy for the baby to grasp and hold on to, she loved the rattle when she shook it, and the colors were great. I like it because it was soft and pliable so it was safe for children and furniture.
Great for little hands! by Renny Wilson "sensib
I purchased this ball for my 5 month old granddaughter for Christmas 2009. Straight out of the package she loved it! The holes allowed her to grip it with ease. She loves the colors and this has become one of her favorite toys.
Our baby loves it, but it is a little harder than I thought it would be. It's also quite a bit smaller than I thought, but it is a good size for his little hands.
Cute, easy to grasp and fun by Mommaw "Emersyns Mom
This little ball doesn't look like much but the design is great! It is easily held and easy to grasp for little ones who are just beginning to learn this new skill. It is colorful and the jingle is a nice noise rather than a loud obnoxious sound it is quite soothing to hear. Recommend this one for every baby!
this ball has some odd smell when i smell it closely, but i didn't return it given the cheap price. my daughter is fine with it. she studies it carefully, but she was not very excited.
This ball is Da' Bomb! :) by S. Lamontagne
I bought this ball for my daughter for Christmas, when she was 4 months old. She has been able to pick it up very easily and hold on tight by getting her fingers around the open holes...and the jingle ball inside makes it so fun and interesting when we roll it to her or she shakes it. Really worth getting!
Shape and size make it easy for my 4mo old to play with....yet it also makes it easy to get his hands caught inside. He likes it, but definately don't let them play unattended...
This instantly became the baby's favorite toy. by Marie Stokesberry
The Baby Einstein Bendy Ball was an impulse purchase while searching for another item. My granddaughter, then five months old, instantly latched on to it as her favorite toy. She still loves it a month later. She is very intent on passing it around in her tiny fingers, learning a lot of fine motor skills. Of course, one of her main goals is to get it into her mouth, which has taught more skills. The colors, the flexibility, the interesting noises it makes when it moves all keep her interest. I highly recommend this inexpensive toy for infants.
my daughters favorite toy! by Glenda Summers "Glen
This is great for babies from 6 mo (suitable for younger), my daughter loves to grab onto this, it is easy for her to hold it, play with it, chew on it. It rattles with the ball inside and is colorful and fun! She has one for her cot and one that she takes with her for road trips!
Baby Einstein Bendy Ball by Janice Y. Sinna
The little guy I got this for is 8 mos. old and just loves it. He can pick it up, rattle it, and toss it very easily, plus he can even chew on it.
bendy ball by Anthony W. Carrano "
This is a great toy for a toddler that will teach him/her colors and shapes. I highly reccomend.
My 6 month old loves this ball. It's not really bendy but it's great cause she can actually hold onto it through the holes.
perfect for baby by auntie "auntie"
I gave this toy to my 6-month-old great-nephew, and he took to it immediately. It's easy for him to grasp, has just enough activity to make it interesting without overwhelming, and is fine for him to put in his mouth (where, at that age, everything goes anyway).
very entertaining by KP Pickle
I bought this for my 8 month old son for Christmas. He absolutely loves it! I give it to him mostly when he is in his highchair. It works as a great distraction when it's time to eat his peas! It cleans well too, which is an added plus!
I purchased this as a gift for my 4 month old niece and it keeps her attention more than any other toy. It's great for babies learning how to use their hands!
For my 1 year old son. by Melissa Palmquist "d
I saw this at Amazon.com and thought my son would enjoy it. He is only 1 so I wasn't exactly sure what to buy him for Christmas. I think he will enjoy it since it is flexible and makes noise.
Highly recommended by NaNa Saving A Buck
This toy is very easy to grasp. Makes noise but not to much. It has some give to it. It does not come apart but it looks like it does.
My 6 month old loves this ball - there is a smaller ball inside that rattles when she shakes or rolls it, and the holes make it easy for her to grab and hold.
Cheaper in the store! by E. Groepper
This toy is absolutely perfect for a 6 month old baby. She loves it and hardly ever lets go of it. It rattles, bends, and rolls appropriately for an infant. This product would be better bought in the store, however, because shipping cost more than the toy, and together they were too expensive.
