5My daughters LOVE this!!! by Connie Baker "jack o

I have 3 daughters ages 9, 10, and 12. They have tried making bracelets before and got bored very fast. Not the case with this item. They have had it for over a month now and are still creating bracelets. I have had to purchase more string for them but the foam discs have held up very well. They have also learned different patterns and made their own. This is a great rainy day activity even though my girls have sat on the porch on nice days and weaved away. Easy to learn, hard to put down.

5LOVE IT! by Lori Schalles

Let me just first say that I bought this to make bracelets with my 3 year old daughter. She has been into the simple stringing of beads to make bracelets and I thought this might be fun for her. Not only is it fun for her, its fun for me too. She needed my help for the first bracelet, but now she can make them on her own and they come out perfect every single time. We got this less than a week ago and she has already made over 10 bracelets on her own. I love that it comes with 4 different designs. The only thing I wish was there were additional designs you could buy!! Other than that, this is an awesome product and should it ever need replaced due to wear & tear, I definitely wouldn't mind!

5Great hobby! by A. Medina "princesa"

This is so great for all ages! I bought it for my 8 year old girl. I thought it was hard at the beginning, but once you get it, it was a piece of cake! I ended up making bracelets too!! I really reccomend this!

5Great hobby starter set; keeps hands busy! by Ben C. Taylor "Horti

We bought this for our 7 year old daughter for her birthday hoping to interest her in a new hobby that would encourage her creativity (and keep her hands busy). The manufacturer suggests this product for 8-12 year olds and I would generally agree (based on dexterity and attention span). However, some younger children, especially those that have the attention span and can repeat a pattern with their hands fairly reliably, will be able to master this activity. Our 5 1/2 year old daughter has given it a try but needs help every once in a while when she gets off the pattern.

We've noticed that the girls don't have as much problem with the circular looms. However, they've had difficulty getting the bracelets from the square looms to come out uniformly. It seems to be a matter of learning how to keep uniform tension on the floss and weave consistently. Not difficult; it just takes a little attention and practice.

The "suitcase" contains four foam looms (2 square and 2 round); 22 skiens of floss; 2 small containers of beads (clear, and multicolored); a beading needle; and instructions.
* Each loom has two patterns (one on each side) for a total of 8 patterns. The finished pattern design is printed around the center hole of the loom, and the notches are painted with the suggested colors used to create the pattern. It's easy to substitute out colors to create your own color schemes. After several months, we've noticed the paint start to rub off the notches on the foam looms (bound to happen over time). Repainting with nail polish may help though we haven't tried that yet.
* The skiens of floss can get used up pretty quickly (only 22). We've found that the local sewing/craft store sells a pack of 50 skiens for around $10.
* We haven't used the beading needle, so I can't comment there. The beads, however, are the right size for the floss and the kids fingers (bigger than seed beeds, smaller than pony beads). My girls haven't shown much interest in incorporating the beads into their projects. They seem to get caught up in the rhythm of the weaving and forget to use them. I would caution that the container lids don't secure down - they slip right off. I would suggest finding another container with a snug lid or taping the lids down to prevent spilled beads.
* The instructions are fairly easy to follow. As has been mentioned by others, the YouTube videos are helpful, especially for those that learn best by watching others. A ruler for measuring out floss has been printed on the fold-out instructions, so all you really need is a pair of scissors for cutting the floss and a pen/pencil (for creating the first loop).
* We still keep the materials, looms, and supplies in the "suitcase" which has proven to be durable.

As our girls have used the product, we've found that they favor the round looms and bracelets over the square. I think this is largely because (1) the weaving rhythm is more continous on the circular looms, (2) it's easier to keep constant tension on the circular looms, (3) the consistent tension yields a more uniform and finished looking product, (4) the round bracelets are usually faster to complete (our experience has been 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the round bracelets compared to 3 for the flat bracelets), and (5) the girls favor the heart and flower designs produced by the circular looms.

Our girls have had a fun time creating bracelets for friends (boys and girls) and themselves. They seem to enjoy planning out the colors and trying to invent new patterns. I would agree with the reviewers who would have liked to see additional patterns. We've also used the floss to create our own knotted/braided/woven bracelets using patterns we've found elsewhere on the web.

Overall, a fun product that was worth the $17.50 we paid for it!

5The girls love it! by H. Garzon "Fla Girl"

Gave it to my 9 year old God daughter. She and her friends loooove this one. It is a bonding experience for them. Inspires creativity, sharing and fun times. The price is really good, so there is nothing to loose here. Instructional and enjoyable...and it keeps them busy :)

5harder than I thought it would be by S. Barnett

Well I bought this for my daughter and I to do together. She is age 6 and in no way can do this on her own. But I knew that when I purchased it. However when I opened it up to get started I was thinking yikes, what have I done? So I told her to go play with something else while I took the time to figure it out. After about 30 to 45 minutes I got one started but soon realized there was no way she was going to have the patience to make an entire one by herself. Even I was struggling and finally put it down and told her we would work on it later. Well later may be about 2 years from now when she is older! I still think it is a good toy but definately for older kids and moms with some serious spare time on their hands. All of you crafty gals will probably love it!

5Fun for Girls age 6+ by Alison Karpstein

My daughter received this kit for Christmas, and has really enjoyed making bracelets. The kits comes with a full rainbox of colors, and the instructions are easy to follow. The addition of beads makes things a little more messy and complicated, but the end result is worth it. A great gift for girls between the ages of 6-15.

5My 8 year old told me to give it 10 stars :) by JulieColorado "jules

I gave this to my daughter for her 8th birthday and she loves it! There is an instructional video on [...] that walks you through the steps to make a friendship bracelet. The video is very helpful and my 8 year old started making her bracelet immediately with very little help. Once the initial setup is on the loom, it makes for a great car trip or plane trip activity :) Every time she finishes a row, she cheers that she can see her bracelet growing.

5Terrific!! by gran-ma

Both my grand-daughters who are 11 yrs old loved this kit. They made all sorts of bracelets, each one different ones, they used their imaginations, and had fun creating their own jewelries.

5It's not that hard... by L. Harrison "Jaeliya

This kit really isn't as difficult as some of the reviewers are making it out to be. It comes with everything you need, and while the instructions included in the kit are a little confusing, the instructional videos on YouTube are incredibly helpful ([...]). That I had to go online to learn how to do it cost it a star in my opinion.

It takes some time (it took me about two hours from start to finish to make one slightly longer than 6 inches on the wheel last night while I watched a movie), but no more than any other kind of macrame and less than most, so if your kid's attention span can't handle that, then they probably shouldn't be crafting.

5My 6 year old is making bracelets! by Tina

Yes, the paper directions are lacking, but we watched the video, I set it up her her, and she is now sitting next to me making a bracelet for her friend. If you have a younger child you will need to start it off, and make sure you begin with the square loom and the simple bracelet (2 colors max). My daughter is very excited to use this kit and it is very simple once you get the hang of it.

5Great friendship bracelet kit for granddaughter by Dee "Dee"

My 11-year old granddaughter's current passion is friendship bracelets. This kit lit up her eyes the moment she unwrapped the gift and saw it. Has everything she needs to make varied, colorful bracelets.

5Review Bracelet Making Kit by Angela

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter's sleepover party. I figured with a little help setting up - the girls could have fun making bracelets. Not only would it keep them occupied but it would be a good gift to bring home.
The directions are poor. It took me an hour to set up one bracelet. The string all came knotted in bands. First I had to unknot all the strings. Then I had to very carefully undo the strings. If I didn't do it just right the whole string color would tangle on me.
My girls were way too young to understand the color codes and how to move the strings around. This would be for much older, patient girls (and patient moms). After finally getting one started, and working on it for a while, I realized I had started the knot on the wrong side.
So instead of a nice long bracelet, we were making one big knotted mess. We had to undo everything to start over. We have still yet to finish one bracelet. This may yet work out but I haven't had the time to try it again.

5Smart people baffled by this this! by C. M. Chahal "ModMom

Both my husband and I are highly educated professionals, however, neither one of us can seem to figure this thing out. I thought it sounded like an easy way to help my 7-year-old make bracelets but all it did was frustrate us and make us feel like total idiots. Maybe I just need more detailed instructions, but the printed ones that are included do not explain very much. They just show some pictures, and if you are a visual learner or a handy person, this might be enough. However, if you learn better through written instructions, or are not skilled at do-it-yourself mechanical operations, this product will do nothing but frustrate you. Honestly, I think she'll be better able to figure out how to make them the old fashioned way with knots and a pin than with this contraption. Don't waste your money.

5Threads are low quality. by Momov2 "Momov2"

It's fun and a great kit to take out on boring days. It's also addicting. The patterns are made of foam material so the print on it will peel off eventually the more you use it. Also, get the DMC threads because the threads included in the kit is low quality.

5Pretty good by S. Kozee

We relied on you tube for the instructional video. It was very helpful. The round wheel creates round bracelets. The are a couple of different patterns. The round wheel is a little trickier than the square wheel. You need to use your thumb as a guide to which notch you are working on. The square is easy to work forwards or backwards (if you make a mistake and it is easy to see where you left off. The square also has different patterns and creates a flat bracelet. My 11 year old is enjoying this toy but she got a little frustrated at first. We have not owned this for very long. I like that the wheels have colored patterning. I don't like that it is made of a stiffer foam.

5Fun, Cute, and Easy! by Stacey

My daughter got this kit for Christmas, and makes Bracelets all the time! At first, she was confused on what to do, but without anyone's help, she completely understood it in a few days! The bracelets have lightened up her mood since she started creating them! She's more confident about going to places because she finally gets to wear amazing, cute bracelets like other girls in her grade! The only thing that isn't so great is that the foam boards aren't that durable, but, otherwise, everything's great!

5Awesome for any age girl! Great for road trip or waiting at appointments! by Lineylambsmum

I purchased this friendship bracelet kit for my five year old daughter for Christmas. Even her 15 year old sister thinks it's awesome. It looked so fun that we opened it up right away and got our first bracelet started. I never made friendship bracelets as a child because I never could figure it all out. This makes it so easy! The kit comes with four looms which have different patterns on each side to create 8 different patterns. It also came with a ton of embroidery floss. The only thing you need is scissors to cut the string when getting started and once finished. It takes quite a bit of time to complete a bracelet, but once you get the embroidery thread on the loom and the bracelet started you can tuck it into your backpack or purse and take it wherever you go and work on it when you have time. My daughter keeps hers in the car and it has been great for long road trips, being dragged on shopping errands with mom or just when she's chilling and listening to music on her ipod shuffle. I think any girl five or older would love this!

5Fun designs, easy to do. My daughter loves it. by Noname

I have been using printable friendship bracelet wheels off the internet when I decided to buy this kit for my seven year-old daughter and me. It has been a lot of fun for us. The wheels are made of thick foam, which last a lot longer than the printable paper wheels we made. The patterns are attractive. There are plenty of threads to get started and some beads for the tassels. I even like the storage box that it comes in.

Instructions are good, except the makers try to translate them into every language and we have to search for the English portion on each page. For the manual challenged, there is a reference on the manual to the manufacturer's website for the instructional video. Once learned, it's very easy. My daughter has no problem doing it at all.

The square wheels make flat bracelets while the round wheels make round bracelets. I prefer the round wheels, because the bracelets work up more quickly. I'm making one or two an evening for an upcoming scouting event, so the faster the better.

For more patterns, just search the web. There are plenty to choose from. Search "friendship bracelet designer" for a site that lets you design your own pattern for the wheel.

5Much too difficult... by Bristol

Very difficult for me to figure out, let alone a younger sister that's 6 years old. I just wish the instructions were a little more clear, otherwise a quality product.

5Harder than I thought by Jen O

Although this kit was full of colors and instructions, it was harder than I thought to make the bracelets themselves. The paper instructions were ordered irregularly, so unless you have access to the internet to view the instructions, it may be too difficult to complete. Also, it is very time consuming, my niece and I worked on them for 2 hours and still were not half way done.

5Great for the whole family! by Ruby Slippers "No pl

I purchased this item for my girls (ages 13, 10) to make bracelets for their friends. The 13 year old is very good at it, and was able to teach her 10 year old sister and her 7 year old sister, and her interested 6 year old brother! I have pictures of all of them sitting around on vacation making bracelets for their friends! Keeps their little hands busy and their minds focused, in addition to creating a handmade gift for their friends! Great purchase! I highly recommend. Also, this is a suitable purchase for a 6 or 7 year old, as long as someone older shows them how to get started. It will likely take them longer as their focus typically doesn't last too long, but it is easy to set down and pick up again when ready.

5Fun for boys too by Rachel A. Kulis

I wish this craft kit wasn't boxed so much for a girl because boys like doing it too! All the pink was a near turn off for my 9 year old who is already very conscious of what "cool" is (unfortunately). Anyway, after opening the kit and showing my 6 and 9 year olds there there are lots "boy" thread colors to choose from, they wanted to try it right away and they've been hooked for the last two days. The square loom is very easy, my 6-year-old picked it up right away (though is weaving is a little erratic/sloppy). They are both amazed at the designs the colors are making and they can't wait to finish the first one they made for themselves and begin making them for friends. I wish the kit included some key chain rings because I'd like them to make me one with beads on it.

5Great toy for kids! by yelron

This is a great toy and skills development, after a short explanation my 6 years old girl is working almost by her self :-)

You must have paitence with it...

5Girls bracelet kit by Daisy

My daughter received this bracelet making kit for her birthday and it was such a hit with her girl friends that I ordered it as a gift for one of them. It keeps them busy and they love the colorful bracelets.
Highly recommended.

58yroldsmom by Darci Neireiter "mom

This helps so much! My eight yr old can make cool bracelets with very little help from me. All the other kits required my almost constant assistance. With this i set up the looms and let her weave away and only assist when she doesn't remember where she stopped or wants to add beads etc.

5AWESOME PRODUCT! by >

hi im ten, this project gave me endless hours of fun!!!!!! i recomend this to anyone who loves to make bracelets. the only thing is i wish there were additional products you could purchase

5Wow! by Heba Munshi

I gut 10 of these as gifts to my cousins . They all loved it . Their age is between 10 and 18 . Its so much fun I end up getting one for my self and i am so interested in the braiding word (The Art of Kumihimo ) now :D Also its the only kit that have 4 looms, yarn enough to make 22 bracelets and really cute beads all in Very cute bag <3
I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally love this product .

5Needs Improvement, but fun by the bon "the bon"

The thread that came with this kit is horrible--it unravels, tangles easily. I can't imagine a child using it. When using the square looms, the most important step in the directions (pulling the cross threads tight) is in the hints section. I have had the round looms for several months and figure out patterns by trial-and-error then try to remember what I did; it is so much easier drawing them out on the grid that came with the squares. Is there anything like that for the round ones? The square looms work well with round cording--the patterns are much easier to discern. I use these bracelets as incentives for improved classroom behavior, recognition for a great job, excellence, and thank-yous.

5awesome by Westmo "westmo"

This toy is definitely excellent. My daughter loves to make friendship bracelets, but this adds a whole new step. She is ten years old and needed a little help understanding the first one and help with set up but now she is able to make all kinds of exciting designs.

5Too hard by MC2

I got this kit for my daughter's 8th birthday party. She is having three friends over, and we thought this would be a fun project for them to sit and do for a little while. We took it out today to try making a bracelet. The paper directions are really difficult to figure out, and the video online goes way too quickly over the tricky parts (moving strings right and then left, and moving the wheel counterclockwise). I watched the video several times, and I still can't get the process right. After over an hour of working at it by myself, I've made less than an inch of bracelet, and the pattern isn't even correct. It is way too hard for an 8 year old! And my daughter is very good at crafts (sewing, weaving, braiding, etc.). The description of this product even recommends it for parties... I have only tried the circular wheel bracelet maker. The video for the square shaped bracelet maker did seem easier.

5Bracelet Kit by Deb P "Sci fi geek"

The toy was smaller than it seemed, but had a nice variety of things to make. For someone under ten it is a nice gift.

5A Fun Gift for the Grandchildren by Bob "Creations In Wo

This is a well made and well thought out product. Our granddaughters have a great time making bracelets.

5Awesome Friendship Bracelet Kit by Minnet

Purchased for my daughter for Christmas. We bought the smaller version (2 daisy wheels) in Sept. She loves it! Has made well over 25 bracelets. We thought this one, being expanded and with different wheels, beads etc would make her day!

5grandaughter 8 yrs loves it by Becky Turner

it was for my grandaughter she is very creative and like things to do that has meaning for her and friends and gifts that she can make and give is important to her

58 Year Old Loves It by P. Lundquist

My daughter received this as a gift. Once you get the hang of it, it is easy. The online video REALLY helps. Comes with a ton of embroidery thread. She works on the thing constantly!

5Alex Toys Friends 4 Ever Bracelet Making Kit by MDBL

This is a really lovely set, I bought it for my niece and she loved it. There are plenty of great threads to use and fun things to make.

5Great gift for my granddaughter! by sm05420

This was a great gift for my granddaughter's birthday! The only bad thing about it was that I had to be home to sign for it. This created problems as I work and had to take time off in order to meet UPS. There was nothing in the description that said the seller required a signature upon delivery. I probably won't purchase from this seller in the future.

5Alex Toys Friends 4 Ever Bracelet Making kit by Norma

The instructoins were not that easy to follow. The string in this kit is cheap. There is a website that shows you how to use the wheel but even that is a little tricky. A bit of a dissapointment

5Great beginner kit...but my 10 yr old lost patience with it.... by C. Allard "Just Me"

My daughter was excited to receive this but she had problems "sticking" with it. The bracelets are beautiful that it creates, but directions she seemingly followed created the bracelets too short so in the process of guessing string length and too many wrongs, she soon lost interest. I still think this is a great product, but your kid has to be able to sit still for a while and be patient, and if mine hadn't of been so consistantly discouraged by her first attempts with making them too short, maybe she could've gotten past that, by actually seeing positive results.

Edited to add: Perhaps maybe if this kit could of had a "beginner" or very "basic" loom with less "weaving" steps by making a more simplistic bracelet, so results could be achieved sooner. I think if a more basic loom/bracelet was in the kit, and once mastered, then my daughter might have found the more complicated looms with more weaving steps offered in this kit more enticing. JMHO!
